So I finally got my Envy with the i7-2630 on monday, and a quick glance at the windows battery estimate after using it a little bit said somewhere in the the high 4 hour mark (I don't exactly remember but it was > 4:30). And as of today my batterybar shows a full lifetime of 3:26, (edit) while windows shows 3:50 when available. Can anyone explain what happened?

Edit 9/18/11: Today my batterybar estimates the life at 2:33 :/

    Important stuff that I downloaded:
    Rainmeter
    Reil's Touchpad
    7zip
    Hon
    Ventrilo
    iTunes
    Skype
    BatteryBar
    Avast free-version

I'm guessing that rainmeter and the antivirus would/could bring the battery life down, but i'm skeptic that it would take it down 1 hour+. Does this make sense? Is there a less demanding alternative to avast while still providing enough protection?

It takes a few cycles for battery bar to determine a closer estimate.

Battery bar will also jump around depending on how you use it, it could say 1 hour left when watching a movie, but when idle it might change to 2 hours.

Nonetheless, is it normal for the windows estimate to be that much lower than when it first started?

Hm, now that you say it, my battery estimations have gone down too... and I haven't installed much yet... gone from above 4 hrs on full charge to 3:40 or something... wonder why

Im pretty sad that this is the battery life. On the first day I was incredibly happy that the windows battery showed way above 4 hours for I would've been fine with just around 4 but as of now at 85% it shows 2:45 with the battery bar at 2:33. It shows this time while just surfing the internet and I haven't added anything else since my first post when the bb still showed 3:26 so i'm kinda mad :(

Battery bar is wrong for me. It always shows 1 hour less than what I actually have (via windows battery meter).

Right now, I have 3:35 on windows battery, but battery bar shows 2:35.
On the i5, I get 5:30 min on 50% screen brightness. Integrated graphics.

And have you measured it yourself yet to see if they are even accurate?

Yeah, the battery bar is closer to the actual time, give or take 10-ish minutes.
