The Envy Silce Battery at HP has been on sale for a while but never showed in stock, now the price went up and there in stock. ?
-
I believe they have the slice in stock, I just ordered one in conjunction with the 500 dollar off coupon.
-
I know now there in stock but when they were on sale they werent. Soon as they went to the regular price now there in stock.
-
Ah I know I understand. Probably did it to close out their wares =/ You can find a few vendors online that sell for 150
-
hp parts store still sells it for 128 + tax/ship.
Though some people reported getting "used" looking ones.
Consider getting en extra 8 cell internal battery, they are light and easy to carry around. -
I couldnt find the slice on the parts store. Any way you could post a link? I'd sure appreciate it. (I really did look. Not just being lazy)
-
go here: HP Parts Store - HP Computer Parts - HP Printer Parts - Compaq Parts and search for part number 602410-001, this is the Envy 14 slice battery
-
This is the part # I used and just finished placing my order. It came to $142. tax and shipping.
I asked for the promo discount and they took 5% off the original price -
With the slice batter, how many hours can one expect for light tasks (word, web browsing)?
I'm told the 6 hours battery life, is actually close to 3-4 hours for the envy 14s.
So I might have the pick this up at some point.
-
From my understanding you can expect 3-6 hours on the envy depending on what features you have on, and how well you've configured your windows install. The slice battery is a 6 cell, but is rated 62wh while the 8cell native to the laptop is 8 cell rated 59wh. So expect a hair over what you get normally, ie double.
Also, for finding sales and stuff, I had good luck googling WQ385AA
Cheers -
Most of the info has been reported in this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-envy-hdx/501066-envy-14-battery-life-log.html
A link of this thread and other relevant ENVY 14 threads can be found on page 1 of the owners lounge. -
Thanks for the info. I'm curious though, why is there 2 options with differing price points? In addition, why does the HP store list it as $200, while the previous link lists it as ~$120?
Thanks -
I believe they are separate companies that maybe have a strategic alliance. If you call them they don't seem to have much communication between each other. The parts store sells it for 120 but it ends up coming out to 154 after tax shipping and some other stupid charges. Also the hp store coupons don't work there.
-
They arent new from the parts store. I have a friend that got one and he said it was used. If you look they offer a cheaper replacement with the return of your old one. They are prob coming direct from the refurbishing company. I got the slice battery with my system just now. I will sell you my battery for $150 new. I have no intention of keeping it.
-
I order one last night and the guy assured me it was brand new. Not used or refurbished. As i said in another thread they have 2 different ones under the same part number a new one for $127 and a refurbished one for $120.
-
Is there some sort of software you can run to test if the battery is like new or new? If so, I would love to hear back from you on the matter. Going through some of the other threads, there have been reports on people getting visibly used slice batteries. Which, is least of my worries. I'd hate to get a battery that was unable to hold a full charge.
I think I might pick up a slice battery, when I get a new job. It would be nice to have. -
I guess you could use batterypro and measure the battery wear, however im not sure how exact it is. I was one of the people that reported the used slice battery from the parts store, and although it looked used and had writing on it, batterypro said it has 0.0% battery wear which is good enough for me. BTW I didn't order the cheaper one that was supposed to be for exchange, I ordered the $127 one
-
Thats crazy. It could be that customs checked it when it entered the country from the manufacturing plant to the parts store or may be it was inspected by DEA when being shipped for drugs. (they check a small number of packages randomly) Of course i'm just thinking here....
-
Maybe they just reuse the case. Not a big deal. Still saving you 50 bucks. Even if its refurbished its 50 bucks cheaper.
-
Yeah as long as the cells are brand new i really could care less. Mine will be here tomorrow morning before 10:30 so i'll keep everyone updated.
-
how long did it take to get shipping information?
I ordered one Monday and I was given a conformation # but I cant seem to be able to track it.
Thanks -
You have to call the parts store and they'll give you the tracking number. I paid the extra 5 for the expedited delivery 1 day shipping and mine will be here tomorrow by 10:30am. I too ordered mon night.
-
has anyone tried calling hp and telling them the slice is 50 dollars cheaper in the parts store? I bet they would just credit you $50 if you already had an order in.
-
Please post the condition of the battery when you get it (New- Used)
Thanks
-
I just received my slice battery from the parts store. It is 100% brand new. There isn't a single nick, scratch or finger print. No signs of use at the male end that connects inside the laptop. All the stickers are on perfectly and the plastic guard wrapping. It's brand spanking new.
I can't remember if it was this thread or not but someone was saying it was as heavy as a dumbell. I was so surprised at how light this thing is. Its amazing. It really is super thin as well. I can't believe people talked smacked about this thing. Literally an 8 year old girl couldn't tell if it added any weight to her computer.
On a much more negative note... It seems fedex decided to play frisbee with this thing and one of the corners is chipped. It's obviously fedex because the tiny chipped piece is loose in the packaging. Called the parts store and they are shipping me a new one within 2 hours along with a return box for the frisbee.
I can't believe the way they shipped this thing. It's got one layer of the cheapest bubble wrap ever and thrown in a plastic fedex bag. -
Mine is due to be delivered tomorrow. Can you us just the slice battery with out the regular battery installed to save on weight for traveling or do you have to have the stock battery installed always?
-
the regular battery is pretty light , I would not take it out even with the slice
-
I sent my beats in for an envy w/ radiance and now i'm just waiting for it to get here. So i can't answer that.
-
plastic bag? Mine came in a box 10 times the size of the battery (the battery was bubbled wrapped but loose in the box) pretty sure you don't need to have the internal battery there since the slice battery gives direct power to Envy but I'll test it and let you know
-
HP sent me a replacement battery also and it was just in a shipping bag.
-
Ordered my slice yesterday over the phone. Told the CSR that the website said there was a promotional coupon available and asked if she could apply it. She said it was for 10% off so that made the price $114.83. So including tax and standard shipping the total cost was $136.16 and it just showed up today. Definitely new and in a large HP box.

I just got my replacement (the original was broken by fed-ex, chipped on one side) slice, came in a huge box wrapped in as much bubble tape as they could put on the thing.
The battery bar on it is so cool. I never knew about this feature. -
what promotional code? You just called hp and ordered it through the parts store? I am calling to see if they will credit me the difference in price. lol
-
Let me know if that works so i can too ha.
-
The HP Parts website just mentioned that a promotional code was available but it didn't say what the code was, which was the primary reason I placed the order over the phone instead of online. I was surprised when she said it was 10% because I'm pretty sure I read somewhere earlier in this thread that the promotional code was only for 5% off. Maybe they're trying to dump all the slice batteries they have on hand as well. Who knows, it is HP after all. <grin>

Im on the phone now! Lets see what happens......
-
Just something I noticed. HP does not have the slim in stock in the regular store where its $200 but its in stock in the parts store... huh?
HP 6-cell Slim Fit Battery for Envy 14-1000 Series (RS06) | HP® Official Store 14_WQ385AA&omniData=envy%2B14%257CHP%25252Bbatteries_cat%257Cnotebook_batteries_finder%257Cmost_popular%257C1%257C25%257C1%257C%252Fenvy%2B14%2Bbattery_finder%257CEA%257C0%257C -
Something else strange is that they have different part numbers. Maybe something was changed? This is what I get when I type in the part number from accessories store.
HP Parts Store - HP Computer Parts - HP Printer Parts - Compaq Parts -
Yep! After waiting for a long time they came back and told me they cant price match it because its different and something was changed. She said they are compatible with the envy 14 but not the same. I didnt even say anything about the part numbers or the regular store being out of stock. I just gave her the part number for the parts store battery saying its cheaper from them. She also went on to say she doesnt know what they changed but she was told its a different battery but compatible if I want to order it.
-
where do you see the different part numbers? Are you talking about the RS06 and RS0602?
-
I had to convince the guy it was an internal battery. He still couldn't take in that the battery popped onto the bottom of the laptop.
-
guys or people what was posted is what it is, do bust the guy ball if he doesn't understand what your talking about. Its the slice battery,, I don't think they even make this type of battery for any other unit, Correct me if I'm wrong. It seem to be a better deal so if you want one just order it before it goes away.
Mine came today and I knew soon as my wife told me it was in an envelope I was screwed.
Two coroners were completely broke away, broken pieces in the bubble wrap.
I'm calling tomorrow to get it replaced.
Again the part number was given in this post, order or don't but don't screw it up for everybody else asking to many question. Just my opinion. -
Its not an internal battery, it fits on the outside of the unit
-
What are you even talking about?
I meant wasn't an internal battery. I wasn't busting his balls i gave him the part # and he kept saying it wasn't for the envy 14 then he said it was an internal battery, that he didn't have what i was looking for, then miraculously after 15 mins he somehow found that yes it was for the envy and that it snaps on to the bottom. All the while i just wanted to order the part, i knew what it was. -
Sorry about that I had a late night from work
-
Ha unfortunately i know how that is.
-
Wonder if i can get this up in Canada? Does the HP parts store ship outside of the US?
-
Ok, so I finaly have my slice battery, battery bar shows "23:53 full lifetime"
I havent really been able to test the real time yet but wow 23:53 -
Battery bar takes about 2 weeks to start generating a close approximation because it bases it on previous battery cycles. Even then it isn't dead on.
-
What I dont understand is that the 8 cell battery from HP only has a max capacity of 59,200 mWH, whereas an Asus 8 cell battery I have has a capacity of 79,000 mWH. Is there a higher capacity 8 cell battery for the Envy? OR did HP just put in a 6 cell battery and call it 8 cells...
