I am having difficulties scrolling with my touchpad when I first bootup. The scrolling feature and pinch zoom does not work unless I manually click on the synaptics clickpad icon. Is there anyway to make this automatically work on bootup?

does it act like synaptics software isnt loaded if you try to scroll (ie, the cursor actually drags instead)

or does it bring up the icon for scrolling but not scroll?

What happens if you wait a bit. You arent on Windows 8 are you? I notice on Windows 8 it takes a few more seconds to load the synaptics software which you need for the scrolling and zooming.

You could try removing synatpics software/driver and reinstalling

I'm running Windows 7 and to me it seems like the synaptics software isn't loaded. Any ideas on which is the best driver to use?

You should be able to download them straight off of HP's Support Driver download page for your specific laptop. I'd suggest confirming that the drivers aren't there (looking in Programs & Features for anything "Synaptics" and uninstalling it) then restarting and installing the driver software that you downloaded.
