Hey guys, I'm thinking about adding surround sound to my home theater system to use with gaming and movies (I'm drooling at the thought of BC2 with a 5.1 system). Considering I've never set up a sound system before, what would I need to hook up my 5.1 receiver, tv and laptop? I use the hdmi port on my Envy14 to the TV set, so would I just connect TV audio out to 5.1 receiver in? Not sure if my TV "supports" 5.1, would I lose the "surround" aspect of things if I went from pc to tv to receiver?
Let me know if I'm completely bass ackwards on any of this if I am!
    Thanks,

In an ideal setup, I believe your reciever would actually have the HDMI ports and your TV would be connected to it as the monitor.

I could be wrong. Regardless, I don't think you'd lose the Dolby signal if you went Envy > TV (via HDMI) and then TV > Reciever via HDMI or some other digital connection (digital coaxial or optical).

Depends on the TV. My Samsung television takes any input from HDMI and converts it to stereo when passing it out. Really stupid engineering.

If you have a proper setup, your TV is already connected to the receiver via HDMI. Just connect your Envy to the Receiver.
