Im also having a few other strange issues like wireless taking a while to connect and also windows media player keeps freezing eversince i got a m-audio fast track ultra with most current drivers. also looking for any decent mods out there. thanks

    no bios mods.

F.24 exists on like 1 or 2 random envies (from people who sent their computer in and got it back from repair. It doesn't happen to all of 'em. I'm still on F.23)

F.23 shouldn't cause wireless issues. Try updating the drivers? The stock ones are horrible if you're on the intel wifi card.

not sure why windows media player is freezing

Yea i was thinking about the wireless drivers. What confuses me about some things is HP has its own verison of some drivers. so am i better off going with HPs drivers or OEM drivers?

HP's drivers for the wireless pretty much are the intel/broadcomm/whatever other wireless radio is in your envy drivers.

I too am having the same network issue, by the way I just got a new router from netgear. Just yesterday I was at a friends who had the same router (provided by our local cable company) and experienced the same issue as I now do at home. I did a full install of the os and the problem still exists. The problem appears to be worse with wpa/wpa2 as opposed to just wep. Also many web pages dont always open the first try.

I'm gonna try uninstall the hp wireless stuff and get new drivers from Intel and see if that helps the wireless issue. I might have to go to an m-audio fourm for help with windows media player freezing but still plays sound. I used the wma repair utility and still does the same thing. Honestly im really not sure if its the m-audio fast track ultra causing thing or something else but i have noticed it started after i got the m-audio FTU, weird. Im also trying to figure out what services or what not i don't need to run so I have a little more power and battery life. ive already went through msconfig start up and disabled the start up programs i don't need. im pretty good with computers but still am not sure what else i can do to get the most power and quality from the envy with out losing features like win7 Areo and other features like it. I feel like the envy 14 i7 has so much potentional especially with all the high end options i got when i had it built but my buddy has the envy 14 i5 and both i7 and i5 seem pretty close to the same speed and performance and mine has 4 more gigs of ram then his i5 envy. I want to overclock to but just enough to notice a little increase, nothing big just not sure how to go about that either with out a decent guide. The turbo boost takes it from 1.73ghz to 2.6ghz at most according to the Intel turbo boost monitor but from what Ive read all over people have taken them up to 4ghz with no major issues or so Ive read. im not looking to get quite that high (although it would be nice) because i don't want to fatally damage anything. sorry if i sound clueless but i have to start somewhere and from the responses Ive gotten on this forum already, I can tell the other members are actually looking to help and i do thank everyone for that ;)

the wireless connection problem is in my case router dependent, at home or at my friends house it connects right away, whereas at work it always takes a few mins to connect properly.
