    So I'm thinking of getting a Envy 14 for college, but apart from taking notes in class, I will primarily be using it for gaming.

    I would like to be able to play Fallout 3, Dragon Age, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, Empire Total War, and Fallout New Vegas; on med-high or even max settings at the native resolution 1600x900.

    So would these specs: Be able to handle those games on high, or even max settings, on the native resolution?
    * Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    * Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-520M Dual Core processor (2.40GHz, 3MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 2.93GHz
    * 6GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    * 500GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    * 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5650 switchable graphics - For Dual Core Processors
    * 14.5" diagonal HD+ HP Radiance Infinity LED Display (1600x900)
    * Two 8 Cell Lithium Ion Batteries

    Also should I drop the 500 gb and invest in a ssd?

    I ordered my envy14 a week ago and I will be playing alot of those games too. The5650 should be able to handle those games on high, and newer games like New Vegas on medium-high.

    Your build looks good, but I must say that you could same a bit of money by going with the i5 450 instead of the 520. They are almost the same processor, but the 520 allows for VT technology, which allows for better virtual terminals or something. Since most people wont even need this, the 450 is a much better option, since they perform at the same speed.

    Also, 4 gigs of ram is usually plenty for 95% of people. And a SSD is a very nice option if you can afford it.

    Good luck!

    Crossposting isn't allowed. Good news is that Levi also answered this question in the E14 Owner's thread. I know the E14 Onwer's thread moves fast. But if you find that no one answered within a reasonable time, yes requote yourself.
