*edit* sorry about the title I should have said with mechanical hdd / non ssd!
    Hello all,
I had a threat before about heat on palm rests with Envy 15, but now I need to know if the 14 is better, and if so how much? If it runs cooler on the palm rests, especially the right palm rest where the hdd is located, I will get it.

So, people with a mechanical hdd, how is the heat on the right palm rest? On idle, just surfing the web, and when doing something intensive like gaming. I don't have specific surface temps for my envy 15, but hardware monitor showed around 104 F for hdd temp. I can tell you that it was uncomfortable just surfing the web, but then again this is pretty much the only laptop I've ever owned that I've every felt any heat when just surfing the web (on the palm rests at least).

While doing stuff like surfing the web, my left palm rest feels cold to the touch, and right is about room temp. I have the 500gb drive. I used to have an Envy 15, but returned it because of heat and battery issues. Much happier with the 14.

On gaming however, it does get pretty warm. The palm rests just feel moderately warm, they're still comfortable, but the bottom feels hot. No gaming on your lap.

On the 15 you have the cpu and the hdd where your palms go, but on the 14 the palm rest area is mostly battery so you'll hardly ever feel it get warm.
