My Envy is running at around 45-50C idle and reaches 75C with Prime95 test running for 30 minutes, and the temperatures seem all right. However, when I play BF:BC2 my CPU can hit peaks of up to 89C according to Hardware Monitor.

I'm running an i5-430m, are these kind of peak temperatures normal?

What are idle/load temps of other Envys?

i was having this same problem as well...

but i opened mine up and cleaned it a bit.. try turning down you max and min cpu state to 90% in ur power plan.. kept the temps down for me..

also your location matters aswell i was in my room laying down on my bed gaming on my envy and my temps for my i5 reached 102C while playing bad co 2..

but last night after blowing air into the vents it never went over 78..

Bad company 2 is very CPU intensive aswell so try changing some settings and keep the fan always on in the Bios maybe give it a nice cleaning..

    just some suggestions

well. keep in mind that the air flow for cpu and gpu are kinda shared.

cpu temps will go up some if the gpu is being stressed too, etc.

Hadn't known that the airflow for the CPU and GPU were shared. Guess that would explain the lower temps for Prime95 but the high temps for Bad Company. I know that after a bit of playing the GPU only hit a max of 74C or so, was just hoping that the CPU would be the same :p

    Thanks

uhm the Envy 14 does not share air flow last I checked between the GPU and CPU(2 fans).
The Envy 14 does however share the same heatsink plate, although it uses different heat pipes/heat fins.
Still though it is very correct that if one heats up the other will.
