Hello All. I'm curious about other Envy 14 owners in Asia. Here in Taiwan they only offer two preconfigured models.

    1011TX

    Windows 7 Home Premium
    Intel® Core™ i5-540M (2.53GHz, SC turbo up to 3.06GHz)
    14.5" LED 1600x900
    2G DDR3 1333MHz (2G*1)
    ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5650 1024MB
    500GB(7200 rpm)
    8 cell
3 year warranty! (1 year international, 2 years Taiwan only)
    Free HP bag + mouse

46,900 NT approx $1460 US Dollars

    1012TX

    Windows 7 Home Premium
    Intel® Core™ i7-720QM (1.6GHz)
    14.5" LED 1600x900
    4G DDR3 1333MHz (2G*2)
    ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5650 1024MB
    640GB(SATA介面, 5200 rpm)
    8 cell + 6cell slice
3 year warranty! (1 year international, 2 years Taiwan only)
    Free HP bag + mouse

53,500 NT approx. $1666 US Dollars

I'm picking up my 1012TX on Monday. They are made in China and preconfigured, so it only takes one business day for them to arrive in Taiwan. I guess there are a lot of pros and cons to the Taiwanese configurations.

    Pros

    -Warranty is great
-Preconfigured and built so no wait time
-Slice battery included in the 1012!

    Cons

    -NO SSD OPTION!!!!
-RAM options max out at 4gb and 2gb on the lower model (?)
    -Slightly more expensive
-No customization at all (unless you go aftermarket)

I'm curious if there are any other Envy 14 owners in Asia and what kind of configurations are sold in your countries?

As far as I can tell, the Envy 15 has been completed replaced by the 14 now in Taiwan. Technology moves very fast here, and a 6-10 month marketing lifecycle for laptops isn't considered outrageous.

I'll be an Envy 14 owner in Asia when I head back to China in mid-August (I'll probably be the only person in Wuhan with one :p). However, I'm buying in the States, since it's my summer vacation so I'm back Stateside.

As for other Envys in Wuhan, I asked around at my local computer market and was finally led to a single Envy 13, displayed without the battery installed, selling for 19,800 RMB - about $2800... Needless to say, I passed on it, as has everybody else in Wuhan as far as I know, it wasn't even particularly well-spec'ed. Totally rich idiot bait.

For all I know, they could be assembled at the Foxconn plant 3 kilometers from my apartment, but that wouldn't change how the supply chain brings it to me.

The thing about computers in China is that most of them are typically lower-end models and often a year or two behind technologically. Something like an Envy in Wuhan would generally be more of a status symbol than anything else, so they put up a fancy display, mark up the price to a ridiculous degree, and find some rich sucker who wants to look cool. It's like hipster marketing, but these 'hipsters' are actually fat, corrupt party members with no culture and more graft money than they know what to do with.

Nope, but I've seen tons of other fake Apple stuff. Most of it isn't even close, but a few items look halfway convincing.

Got my Envy14 1011TX for about a month now here in Taiwan. Great hardware no cpu whine or external build problems. My only prob is also the hard to master track pad :) Yup it only has 2GB RAM, had to pick up an additional 2G. The best part i think is the 3 Year warranty here in Taiwan. My last HP notebook i had to replace the LCD 3 times within the 3 years, all without charge.

I was looking for the Envy13 here for about a year but was not available here in Taiwan. But i think i like the Envy14 better...

I think somebody mentioned them selling it in Singapore, but I might be thinking of the Taiwan offering in the first post.
