    Hello everyone,
I tried searching for these answers, but a lot of random threads were showing up, so apologies if these have been covered a lot already! I did a clean install of the Envy 14 (with the older processor) a few weeks ago and it went fine. I used Windows Update to install most things, and then used SwSetup to install some remaining software. A couple things are missing, however:

    - I don't have switchable graphics: when I try to configure from the Intel program, it says Windows can't find PowerXpressHybrid?
    - Fn + b no longer toggles Beats Audio on/off: not too important, just something I noticed.

Since the Envy doesn't have a VGA port, I bought a HDMI to DVI cable for my monitor. When I plug it in, nothing happens. I'm not sure how to figure out if it's a problem with the cable or graphics. I didn't try the cable prior to the clean install, though.

Install stock hp drivers from this thread then install latest ati drivers over them.

install the HP audio driver with the beats software found here.

This worked perfectly, thanks! My HDMI-DVI cable now works as well, so I guess it was a graphics problem.
However, I couldn't get this to work. I downloaded the audio driver, but what do you mean install it with the Beats software? Is that packaged within sp48435.exe? After installing that and restarting, 'fn + b' still doesn't do anything.

The beats software is packaged in the audio driver for the envy beats edition. But are you saying you have the beats control software but cant activate it though fn + b? Press Fn + Esc, does computer info window pop up?

I think the fn+b stuff is either a part of the HP Tone Control software or the HPQL software in swsetup

...not really sure which (or if it's either of those at all..but those are the two best bets)

Yes, the Beats Audio software is installed and activated. However, fn + b doesn't toggle it on/off, it just stays on. Like I said, it's a pretty trivial thing, but I don't like having missing software capabilities haha.
I Googled the problem and both of those HP software names came up. I checked what processes I have running at Startup and I have Quick Launch installed, but not Tone Control. I'll install that later today and see if it works.

I'm having the same problem too. I know that for the 1st gen Envy you had to have the three things (HPQL, driver, and Tone Control), but I'm not sure about this one. Since Tone Control wasn't included, I'm unsure if it's really necessary to get the fn+b toggle to work. I've installed both the stock Quick Launch and the audio driver, but that still doesn't get it to work.

There is an updated audio driver available here. Might be worth a try if you're still having issues.

I searched my backed up SwSetup folder for HP Tone Control, and all I could find is HPToneCtrls32.dll and HPToneCtrls64.dll. If these are executable files, I don't know how to do so.

I then tried searching for it on the HP website, and found it as 'sp45617'. However, after executing that and agreeing to terms, it briefly brings up the command window and then closes. So yeah, any suggestions on how to install Tone Control? I'm almost positive that's the problem.
    I'll try this next.

    .dll files are not executable.

I know nothing about this particular issue, but this might help:

Open up a terminal window (cmd.exe from the Run box) and navigate to where you downloaded the file by typing

    cd [path to directory]

So, if you had stored it to your Downloads folder located in your User folder, you'd run

    cd %userprofile%\Downloads

Then run the installer by typing

    sp45617.exe

After that, you should get some sort of output in the prompt window - perhaps pertinent to your issue.
