Okay so my envy has been going nuts on the fan lately.
I'm just browsing, light work nothing and my CPU temp and GPU will be at 60s! (ATI GPU)
It used to be normal, high 30s, low 40s idle and browsing, now its in the 60s?
I switch to IGP and it drops to normal but then it randomly spikes to high 50s?
    What is going on here.
My CPU0 temp right now is 44 and CPU#2 is 35. Are they suppose to be that far apart?
The intake on this laptop sucks, I'll say that straight up. I can never feel air going into the bottom of the laptop. I can feel it coming out the front and right side, but they really should have thought of better intake.

    Anyways, any ideas? F.12 bios.

Raise your laptop at least 1 inch from the table.

If that fails you'll need to buy a laptop cooler.

make sure something isn't using the cpu.

also apparently the wmpisrv.exe or something similar to that file (part of the hp wireless assistant I believe) can sometimes screw up and start using lots of cpu power.

    Few things to note:

    1. Yes, because a few dolts complained about the Envy 15's lack of optical drive, HP engineers got rid of one fan and created an HP Envy 14 with 2 fans instead of 3.

    2. My CPU goes crazy at least once a week. It upclocks to 2.66 ghz from 2.4 for no apparent reason when I am just running light apps. Simple solution is to do a quick reboot.

    Still...I love my Envy. :D

Haven't been gaming and haven't updated my GPU software, so chances are that my in-game settings are going to be gimped down.

    I don't remember many/any fps lag spikes.

well unless I tried overclocking sometimes and/or just during the firefly forest 3dmark06 demo.

haven't tried ocing or checking 3dmark06 since I put on the catalyst 10.8 drivers so who knows.

i find mine was just getting really hot, even after going to sleep and waking up in the morning, it returned right back to the 150* CPU temp it was at previously

rebooted and it dropped to under 100...
