I asked this in the envy thread with no such luck...

My webcam is very very slow shutter in any type of daylight. It shoots about 2 frames per second on video. I have hp mediasmart webcam 4.1.2.3130.
Why is it shooting at such low frames per second?
I saw this on youtube and wish mine was this fast...

HP ENVY 14 Webcam Quality, - YouTube

If I moved as fast as hat girl does, it would be a blur!
    Help me please?

*EDIT - I noticed when I went to computer > manage > webcam it says usb webcam and it has a driver date of 2006?

    Details:
    1. Reinstalled HP Media smart
    2. Device manager did not find any updates.
    3. My bios is f.13
    4. The LED light works amazing good in a dark room
    5. Device manager says it's driver details 2006
    6. I have always had this problem, I thought it was typical for everyone till I saw that video yesturday.

I did a search and came up empty on this problem, all I found was cannot find webcam and a purple tint and no true HD. Please Help!

The driver, which is part of Windows (6.1.7601.17514, 6/21/06) is likely fine. You have some other issue that must be related to your USB controller.

In device manager, under Human Interface devices, find the USB Input devices. Hit properties on each then the details tab. In the properties drop down dialog box, select hardware IDs for each one. When you find the one that has "USB\VID_046D"* as part of its description, right click and uninstall that device. Then reboot. It will reload and reset the driver.

May or may not work. But it's a start.

*USB\VID_046D is the webcam driver for most HP computers.
