Thinking of looking for a used one. How are they holding up?

I'd like to find one with the 1600x900 resolution.

It's probably really unlikely that you'll find a 1600x900 resolution one unless you can find someone on here that might be willing to sell theirs. Mine is holding up pretty well and was used as my main computer for a little over 4 years. I recently just built a new desktop so it's still used when I need to do work on the go. I don't think it would be a bad choice to get a used one for cheap, but why not spend the extra money and get something a little more future-proof. A 4 year old laptop is a dinosaur in technology.

I still have mine and it works great. The Envy 14 was far enough ahead at the time that it took a couple years for other makers to offer similar things at similar prices. As notebooko mentioned, while it was a great machine at the time, it is pretty ancient technology at this point. If you could find a good deal on one that might be worth it but it would be reasonable to take the same money and put it toward a modern machine. I think the graphics properties of the Envy are pretty much what holds it back now as well as energy efficiency. Also thin and light is the thing right now. I only use mine when I travel or if my desktop breaks down I use the Envy to get online and find out how to fix the desktop. For my needs, still a decent machine.
