    Samsung SSD - Downloads

Has anyone attempted to update the firmware on the 256 GB Samsung SSD? The instructions mention that a SATA desktop system is required in order to update the firmware. Is this for real? I don't have access to a desktop to do this.

I tried to do the update this morning on my Envy 14 (no desktop) after finally getting a bootable DOS USB drive. The updater couldn't find the drive. I didn't realize until mid-day that there was a BIOS setting that I didn't check ("Please check the BIOS setting and set drive mode configuration to Native IDE / AHCI modes."). I'll have to try again when I get home.

I really hope that a desktop system isn't required. What a pain.
