Hey there I got my Envy 14 when it first came out but recently I've been having problems where my Envy won't boot when I have the battery in (slice or internal) and will occasionally boot when it's plugged in to the ac adapter. When I try to boot the charging light turns off and nothing happens. I think I'm going to have to do an RMA but I was wondering if anyone had had a similar problem.

you have to install the hp wireless assistant and tell it to turn the bluetooth radio on.

Yestarday I solved this problem by installing "HP quick lunch buttons". After this action, Bluetooth became visible

So i cant set up my microphones for the life of me. People can never hear me but i can hear them, and i go to conrol panel > Sound, and under recording i get Speakers and heardphones, and independant headphones. But neither of those do anything productive. Help? Dose the envy even....HAVE.....microphnes...?

EDIT: In beats audio control panel it says the intergrated microphn has been disabled...how to i re enable it?

Reinstall the audio driver from HP website. I had the same problem and reinstalling audio driver restored the microphone functionality.

so i installed the audio driver yall was talking about, but it kept freezing my computer, so i had to go into safe mode to uninstall it, and now windows is downloading an audio driver now :I

edit: ok. that did it. Thanks yall.

edit again: Im having another problem, but not as serious as the one above. The orange light on my mute button no longer works, and i dont know why. Its a little nit picky thing that bothers me, but i hope there is a fix for it.

I have an HDTV hooked up to my Envy 14 as cloned display. It works great as long as the lid to the laptop remains open. As soon as I close the lid, the TV goes dark. I've already switched the power option to "do nothing" when the lid is closed. Can anyone tell me what I am missing? Thanks in advance.

... and that seems to be working now. Ugh. Thanks, all.

when you close the lid the computer goes and sets up a different video setting.

meaning "oh hey I'm back to laptop screen only" sometimes.

    Hi everyone,
I've lurked in the ENVY threads for awhile, but the problems I'm experiencing with my new ENVY14 beats are prompting me to post for the first time.

Ever since I got this computer explorer has been crashing with frustrating regularity. It often happens in conjunction with Firefox freezing, but has also happened on it's own when I'm just browsing through files, etc.

It's becoming really problematic. I'm never running more than one or two programs, usually just firefox and maybe vlc or word. The computer just freezes up for minutes at a time and I usually need to do a force restart which is really obnoxious.

I didn't find any threads dedicated to this problem, has anyone here experienced this? Any solutions or suggestions?

I want to be on better terms with my Envy... T-T

    that's a new one.

it sounds like windows got corrupted somehow.

maybe try a reinstall (clean install/minimal recovery install from the recovery partition)

either way back up your stuff and if you do a clean install BACKUP SWSetup since it has all your drivers and other stuff. Also you'd probably want ABR to save your activation so you don't have to call microsoft to get them to reactivate windows (takes like 3 minutes so..whatever)

Minimized recovery doesn't have those problems and gets rid of some of the bloatware. this assumes you haven't killed the recovery partition

IF the problem still happens after you reinstall windows. Well...

then it's something else. Your memory or hdd could be dying.

Checking those is a bit easier than reinstalling windows. Boot up the computer, mash esc as it starts.

Go to the system diagnostics. Run the hdd test and the memory test. See if either fail. If not, Windows probably broke.

    Hey guys.

I am having a huge issue with my HP Envy. Whenever I would play WoW or SC2 or any somewhat high graphic game, the graphics would get all skidish on me, like the plants would be out of proportion or my scvs would be "shooting" lines out. It is very hard to explain, but I figured I would just try to update them. My friend said he was great with laptops so I basically let him do it. He followed some steps and I was behind him and they all seemed logical.

Now here is the issue. We uninstalled the ADI Graphics card because their video said to do so. We went to install the updates, but it said that we had clicked the wrong version. I tried it again and the same thing popped up. We went to double check the driver in the systems tab, but it wasn't there. The only graphics card is the Intel one.

Can someone help me install the switchable graphics back onto my laptop? Or at least help me undo my mistakes and try to help me update my driver. I tried the other few threads but I haven't had any luck

Go to HP's driver page for the ENvy and download the drivers found there

Install them, then download the latest 11.5 drivers off of that thread that's probably still on the first page (might be on the second)

    that should do the trick

    Hi

I have problem with my HP Envy 14 Beats where the performance has become very slow recently. I have an i7 with 4 GB of RAM.

About two weeks ago the system became really slow. Every four or five seconds it would completely stop for about half to a full second. Everything would stop, I would not be able to type in word, web browser, or any other app. Any videos that I was watching would halt, be it in the web browser, in WMP, iTunes, VLC, etc. I would not be able to switch windows, minimize them or start new apps. But the sound would continue, be it from iTunes, or any other app.

This even happened with only notepad open.

I checked the Task Manager and the CPU Usage would be below 5%. Memory usage would be below 35%. And the only app with high CPU usage was the System Iddle Process with > 95%.

So next I checked the BIOS for any potential problem and ran the HDD and Memory tests and everything came back OK.

So I assumed I had a virus or a very bad key logger on my system and I did a system restore from the original CDs, everything installed fine but I still had the same performance issue.

Next I did a clean install from a trial version of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and I still have the same problem. I have tried using the following drivers:

    • The drivers on HP Website,
    • The original drivers that were on the SwSetup folder on the computer
    • The most recent drivers from the different manufacturers websites (ATI, Intel, IDT, etc)

Nothing seems to correct the issue.

The only issue I have been able to detect, is in the Event Viewer. Everyday I have about 600 Information events regarding Event ID 7036. Several events seem to enter the "Running State" and shortly after the "Stopped State", and after a couple of seconds they enter the "Running state" again.

I have called HP and they told me that they cannot guarantee a certain performance level, that what I am experiencing is just that my system is slow. This is nuts, I couple of weeks ago I would have Lightroom, Photoshop, several explorer/chrome/firefox windows, word, itunes, evernote and outlook running and the performance would be good to very good.

Now, I have only notepad open and I still get this problem.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Sorry about the long post and my bad english.

    Hi all :D

Just placed my order for a 14" Envy Beats Edition a few days ago and I can't wait till it comes in but there's one issue I have and that's the lack of Blu Ray. I spent the last 30 minutes googling and perusing the forums about upgragind the drive to accept a Blu Ray player till I finaly gave up. Can anyone point me in the right direction and also is there a rumor mill topic? maybe I should return it and wait for a refresh around the corner?

    Thanks all!

Try grabbing Spy Sweeper, AVG, or some something along those lines to isolate the possibility of a virus. Maybe something made it down to the kernel and is the root of all your issues.

He's done a complete reinstall, most likely the HDD is at fault as iTunes buffers music in RAM and music is the only thing that works during these freezes.

Did anyone ever answer this? If not I'm calling up HP and seeing what they'll tell me. I opened up the laptop and couldn't figure it out without pulling the stick out.

Edit: Pulled the stick out. According to the model number its a 1333MHz 4GB stick from Samsung. Hopefully I can find another to match it.
