    Hello

When I am configuring the Envy 14 I have two battery choices:
    • 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery (standard) - Up to 6.0 hours of battery life +++
    • Two 8 Cell Lithium Ion Batteries (standard) +$75.00

    I am wondering:
How much weight does the second battery add?
    Would you recommend this upgrade?
I will be carrying this laptop quite a bit, so portability is a concern. Of course, so is battery life. :p

    Thank you.

FYI. The second battery is a spare. Not an add on or anything. It's 12 oz.

Recommended if you need more than 3-4 hrs between each charge. Otherwise no.

Don't think it would add much at all considering you can only use one at a time.

Okay. That clears things up a bit. Thank you - you just saved me some money. :)

Just so you know, there is a slice battery option (from what I hear it's sold out right now though) which is a "thin" (open to interpretation) 6 cell battery which attaches to the bottom of the envy. It runs the length and width of the bottom of the envy. This gives you a combined 14 cell battery which seems (based on reviews from users on these forums) to give the envy over 6 hours (I can't remember specific numbers) of battery life. The con is that it adds some weight to envy.

    I got a 2nd 8-cell so I could qualify for the $500 off 1399 coupon.

I like it a lot as its quite a bit smaller, lighter and cheaper than the slice for the same gain in battery life.
Only downside compared to the slice, you need to put your computer in hibernate mode to change the batteries. Doing that in sleep mode means crashing windows. So No much of a hassle for me.

I am still considering getting a slice from the Parts store to use on long overseas flights. I did not buy it with the computer because it's a $200 option, and I knew I could get it for like $150 on the parts store.

It is not available but there are some lesser coupons out there. I wouldn't be surprised if another 500 one came out in the next few months.
