As I was looking through the Envy 14 YouTube videos,
in anticipation of ordering the Envy 14 on the release date,
I noticed that the vent was positioned at a horrible place..
Behind the screen.
I'm not sure how many of the prospective Envy 14 buyers have been to the
Studio XPS 16 forum, but the vent being blocked by the screen is also an issue, and sparks countless problems..
One person even claimed that the display became yellowish due to the heat being dissipated on the screen,
and the temperatures were hot enough for every user to feel a need for a laptop cooler.
Granted, the 16 inch screen qualifies for a DTR, which means that a use of a laptop cooler is easy.
But the claimed portable machine Envy 14 seems to carry the same vent orientation.
Anyone want to bring up some thoughts regarding this issue?

I have seen this problem with my friend's SXPS, just wondering if that vent is intake or output -.- and how far can the screen goes

In the XPS 16 the rear vent was the exhaust vent. I don't think that vent on the HP is for exhaust. There is a side vent that the fan exhausts from. If you click the link in your post you will see the side vent. HP made a big deal about opening a lot of passive vents on the 14. They talked about it in one of their videos. They have vents on the bottom too. I think the heat control will be the thing most new owners will test early.

Oh well,if the rear vent is intake, then there are 3 intake vents. The Envy 15 I used to own has 3 fans, and still runs hot with i7 quad..

even it's as hot as envy 15,I think many ppl will order one on the release date.lol
It's really a good design and powerful 14" laptop.
hope the vent under screen isn't the exhaust vent. -

The more I look at it the more it looks like an output vent to me lol. Looks too far apart from the side vent to be an intake imo... But heh, could be wrong...
Or it could be specially designed so that the aluminium made screen pannel protects the lcd so it does not suffer from the heat. In this case it would be a great idea. Cause if you tilt the screen further, not really totally vertical the edge of the aluminium pannel may just divert all the heat.
Envy 14.. Smaller Studio XPS 16?
