So I am going back to the Envy 15 locked multiplier on battery discussion. It annoys me how HP disable turbo mode and lock the multiplier on battery. Is the same true with a power adapter that outputs less than 120w? Is there no way to override HPs design flaw? At least in the case of turbo mode?

I wouldn't call it a design flaw at all.... It clocks down to save battery.... more battery means you can be on the go longer..... plus who really needs to be rendering a video on battery anyways lol..... the lower clocks are more then enough to play most games and most apps

Is it possible for the processor to clock itself down any lower than the default setting? In my case i7-720qm @ 133 x 7.0

I am note sure about the i7 But I do know the i5 will clock to around 1.3 -2 ish on battery... Not a huge deal imo

You know what I dont like is if I use a lower power Notebook adapter I get locked out of turbo mode. I got the USNA 95 which has a peak of 150w so I can get plenty of power out of it but all the Envy sees is a 95w adapter and clocks me down and disables turbo mode. Worse comes to worst I'd say disable turbo mode but do not clock it down at least when on a lower watt power adapter.

Not just to save battery. Li-Poly batteries have limited discharge rates, so running the CPU full-out could cause battery damage, in theory.
