Here is a 3DmarkVantage screen of a P6575 run (not sure of OC's), I have hit P6680 but with significant artifacts. On PCMarkVantage I get around 11200 default but a lot of that is due to dual SSD's which skew the scores compared to HDD's.

Look on the first page here for a lot more benchmark results...

Don't know about the 4x issue. 5830 supports 16x and that is what it should be running. Good catch. You should definitely look into what's causing yours to be at 4x. It's worth a good performance difference in some games (I think it doesn't make much a difference in 3dmark)

I am running a clean win7pro install, 10.4 mobility drivers, newest BETA intel chipset drivers (installed with "setup.exe /overall", newest intel RST drivers, REALTEK HDMI 2.42 driver for the ATI HDMI audio, drivers straight from IDT for the audio drivers. Newest Intel "TURBO BOOST" driver (newer then the one HP has on their website)

All my Intel drivers I get from Station-Drivers: le site de drivers, bios, firmwares avec un forum d'aide, also a few others like the realtek drivers are available there.

in power management i have "moderate power savings" set for PCIexpress.

Don't know what else may be relevant. GL and let me know. I'd like to run mine at x16 where it should be. Can you tell if yours is running at PCI-e 2.0 or 1.0 PCIe 1 at x8 is the same speed as PCIe 2.0 at x4.

Also I attached all my GPU info from Everest, CPU-Z, GPU-Z, AMD Clock Tool. I was using Everest at your mention for part of my suite to log CPU power for my comparison testing. Post all your info from these programs too for comparison. If yours is running PCI-e 1.0 and x4 that's definetly a little lost performance. I can't tell if mine is running 1.0 or 2.0. Everest says 2.0, but AMD Clock Tool says 2.5 GT/s which indicates a 1.0 rate.

(Everest identifies mine as a Broadway PRO ATi 5850.... does yours? This might explain...)

You talkin' to me? there are a number of posts here with Vantage scores.

I have the 2x intel ssd 160gb config. RAID 0 32kb stripe writeback cache enaled.

Shouldn't this be ~500MB/s?? What results do you have, JJB?

I have benched with the factory OS install and with fresh install with totally different drivers. Same results so it is not driver/OS related.

between CDM, HDtach, HDtune always get ~350-375 MB/s

    HDTUNE:

    same... 350MB/s

    I have unRAIDed my drives so no comparable numbers for you. I do recall the first batch of envy's were getting ~500MB/s results and now most are in your range, don't know why other than the G2 drives gave up some sequential speed in order to boost 4K random speeds (which due to our controller we don't benefit from). if your curious here is what you'll get if you decide to unRAID;

    CD2.PNG

With regards to the x4 issue here is what I've got showing:

    CPUZ.PNG
    everestgpupci.PNG
    clocktool.PNG

I swear I was at 1.0 x8 before I sent my machine into HP for unbricking. Could the BIOS change the Bus width? The only other thing that I can think of is that I am currently running on the 65W adapter which throttles the CPU like on battery but I am running a program called ThrottleStop that overides the throttling....

Any thoughts on the differents readings? I think I have pretty much the same updates you do (not sure on the chipset driver though, using the one from the drivers thread on this forum version 9.1.1.1025).

Sorry about the seperate attachments, I'm on a mobile 3G modem with no 3G reception (getting 3KB/s) so my typing even has a delay to posting on screen, LOL, so I can't upload any larger images....

I am all for a volt mod since increasing them could cause everyone's OC's to skyrocket up a few. Very nice core BTW. I can only hit 621 ATM.

    Yes.

1.) Go ahead and try the newest chipset drivers. They run great for me (don't let BETA scare you.)

    intel drivers pour chipsets

    Run "setup.exe /overall" from a command prompt.

2.) Your best bet is to try a different BIOS. I am still running the factory BIOS which is like 1A or something like that. If you know how to extract an installed BIOS I'd be happy to do so for you, other then that, just try a differnet BIOS available here in the forum...

Thanks for the unraided #'s. Looks like you get full speed from the single drive at least. G2's do NOT have reduced sequential speed. As you can see, yours gets 250+ single. My desktop has an X-25M G2 80gb and gets 250+ as well.

I may go ahead and unraid and to benefit from TRIM since for whatever reason this system doesn't scale 100% with RAID on read. (250-->350 instead of 500) and 4k random read. I want to see if I can solve this still, first.

I do like the convenience of having one disk @ 320gb and the faster sequential write for installations. Although with TRIM working it will still be more then 50% of the RAIDed speed.

    Vantage: P7060 6803/7963 GPU/CPU

That and 3DMARK06 at 10823 will be my final scores, both at 795/1125 GPU CORE/MEM. I think thats a record here, maybe? I like to leave when I'm ahead. :D

I may be inclined to bench again if i decide to pick up the i7-620M, we'll see. Have to decide what to do about these two i5-540M's I have now (running ES now, bought retail box) this ES is GREAT and runs 100% perfect, I shouldn't have bought this retail chip I have coming. Gotta decide what to do. Anyone want to buy this ES i5-540M? Or the sealed retail box i5-540M? Send offers for both. I can send the ES back for a refund from guy I bought it from with a restocking fee... but not the retail box chip.

My sequential reads were ~470MB/s, if that helps.

Kinda, except I'd like more info on your setup!

stripe size? intel g2's in gen2 envy? factory or fresh install? settings? what driver? MSM or RST? what benchmark?

Unless you get your installs loaded on a device with e-SATA your not going to be able to benefit much from the faster RAID0 write speeds.... I believe 'Koshinn' recently reported a significant performaqnce drop in RAID0 speeds and was going to unRAID them to be able to use TRIM....

I don't remember my stripe size, was g2s in gen2 envy, fresh install, RST, crystaldisk.

I unRAIDed them to try install the firmware, it didn't work. Then I re-raided, reinstalled windows (yeah, using ctrl-i does wipe out everything), and RMA'd my ENVY15.

We're your (470MB/s) benches before or after un-RAIDing and re-RAIDing in the CTRL-I? That might explain as the default stripe set with the new RAID would be different from the factory 32KB.

Well been holding off till school was over but now that it is I see, among other things an F 26 bios. I'm currently using the one that came with mine F18. Any good/bad reports on this new bios? I tried searching and noticed on post about how battery charges might not be lasting as long but otherwise not too much info out.
    Thx

Have the temperature problems basically been taken care of since the first generation? That's the only thing that's had me nervous on buying this computer, since I need it to last and that seemed to be everybody's problem with the first.

IF the search button was used then yes....the 2nd gen envys do not have the heat issues, the i7 version gets hotter then the i5 but it does not cause a issue

I'd like to update my experience.

I've updated my drivers and overclocked my GPU to 525/1075. I've ran the Crysis benchmark and got an average of 39.9 on All Medium and 22 on All High both ran on 1080p. I now run the game at a mixture of settings with 70% of them set to high.

I was able to benchmark the Batman:AA. I got 55 FPS with max settings at 1080P.

I can now run MW2 at 1080p with all settings off except Ragdoll effects and consistently get 90 FPS with almost no dips below 70.

I can also play BFBC2 and get 35-50 FPS at 1080p with all settings set to high except the top one being set to medium (Effects? Not sure which one the top is...). Very playable.

I am so much more impressed with the 5830m now that I've updated the drivers and done some overclocking. :) Anway, that's my 2 cents.
