I have a 2nd Gen Envy 15. Sometimes when I power on the laptop it won't show any display and keeps on restarting every 30 seconds. But if I press Esc or F1, it used to take me to the screen where I can choose to select a boot device or run system tests. From this screen I can click enter to boot up the system. This used to happen once every 2-3 months.

But since today I am not able to do this - laptop powers on and reboots without any change even if I press the esc or f1 key.

    Is this a known issue?

No it isn't, the only thing my old Envy 15 failed during POST was due to a bricked BIOS of sorts that HP failed to write properly before distributing. To clarify, you can POST right? (No HP logo upon boot and before restart?)

I don't think its getting through POST - when I press the power button, power light turns on, I can hear the fans on the left side running for a few seconds and after about 30 seconds laptop restarts. There is nothing on the display - just the blank screen.

Can anyone give me the key combination to run HPs built in system testing tool - the one that can be run at POST?

I don't have my Envy 15 anymore so I am not sure sorry. However, is your HDD light emit a solid orange color when it trying to POST? If so, I think you got a corrupt BIOS, which you can salvage with a blind bootable USB trick I think.

Yes - the HDD is showing an orange color.

Can you please let me know how to do the blind bootable usb trick or share a link?

I finally decided to ship it back to US for repairs and its stuck in customs. I need to provide them with the FCC ID. Can anyone with an HP Envy 15 2nd Generation provide the FCC ID? I think its behind the battery compartment.

Don't have my Envy 15 anymore so I don't know. Sorry. I got the FCC codes to I think the 6300N via the Elitebook.
