Thanks ! It was a pain removing excess on each key... since I couldn't remove the keyboard completely (stuck screw !)

Looks great! If possible have a small towel around to wipe your hands of sweat when gaming.

^ haha I really don't need to prepare for that anymore, I got loads of copper heatsink, and aluminium foil place directly above the CPU. Somewhat it does not heat as bad as before.

I'm going to wrap the lid this weekend , will update some photos, didn't feel like the bottom is worth wrapping ... (AND IT TAKES TIMES :/ )

    It's fairly simple.
    1. Download the HP ENVY 15 manual (google HP ENVY 15 service manual)
    2. Get some vinyls, I got mine as a big role of 30 meters for a larger project, but you can find smaller roll on eBay, I guess it should be around 10-20$.
    3. Go to Home Depo and grab a cheap heatgun , mine was 22$. Just make sure the packaging snd everything looks easy to return (if you want to return).
    4. Remove the top panel (keyboard) using the guide in manual
    5. Remove the black sheet underneath the keyboard, you need this step to remove the 60 screws (Yep I know) that connect the keyboard frame with the metal panel. MAKE sure you use and a good scre driver and don't mess any of the 60 screws, it's really small and can be easily ruined. If you do you will have to wrap it the hard way (what I did..) which is to cut the vinyl off each individual key.
    7. After removing the 60 screws, carefully remove the keyboard frame, you don't want any key to pop out
    8. Cut the vinyl into the metal panel shape with 2-3 inches extra all sides
    9. Now just wrap it like you would putting screen protector on your phone. Use the heatgun to warm any surface that doesn't stick to the panel, after the vinyl is warm for about 3-5 seconds (pay attrntion and don't let it becomes too hot and shrink or burnt) use a scraper (your hand , credit card , etc) to flatten that area until it sticks correctly
10.Next for the corner, the same thing with heatgun, warm it then use your hands to stretch the vinyl around the corners or you end up like mine (I was too lazy)..
    11. After you have the corner done and everying, now warm the key area, then just cut each island and warm its corner like above
    12. For the lid ,you don't need to disassemble anything, same procedure but just be careful warming up the vinyls, don't put too much direct heat on the screen, it would be bad

Take some time and watch some youtube videos, you will become familiar with the corning step. And this should take you 1-2 hours to finish both lid and keyboard.

How's your screen holding up? I would imagine that the carbon fiber would cause scraches or wear marks on the screen..

It's durable, easy to clean, just wipe with cloth. And it acts as "protection". Not really that hard if you're a DIYer and enjoy it. I had fun doing it. Beside I have disassembled the Envy like 20 times last year lol

wow im about to do this to my new envy 15 LOL.

i bought red and black carbon fiber. I intend to just do the lid and the inside, but not the keyboard area (the lower area of the new 15).

also, the red will be for the beats logo. in red cf >:]

haha fun, keep us posted RedLineShift. I would recommend you to avoid the keyboard area too lol it's too difficult. Make sure you heat the corner well so it's easy to stretch and leave no marks

I really look forward to it...but it will be my first time playing with a larger sheet of the cf vinyl. I have done it on my phone, but I am a bit nervous. Also, making the Beats logo with red cf seems a bit difficult too...

Well, I dont intend on wrapping the lower body, just the flat surface. The keys are set lower on the laptop, so that entire area wont be touched by the CF.

    Hopefully I dont mess up...but I do have like 12 x 60 inches of CF......haha :D

darn, 60 inches haha, that's huge. If you have a big circle cutter, that d make life easier with the Beats logo...

Melagius: they would charge you a lot, thus who is reponsible for it. It's not that hard really..

Check the link in my first post. For the foil, take the keyboard apart, get some foil, place where the CPU is underneath the keyboard, stick it with tape.
