Hi All,
I have an Envy 15 with all the bells and whistles. It is less than 1 year old and the graphics card is going blue. Have the extra warrentee which expires in 48 daysI ran the unit with the extended battery and had no problem, then I ran it without the extended battery because I didn't need it. That is where the problem arose. HP says they can replace but it will take a 1-1/2 weeks.
This is rediculous. The unit is overheating in non stressful use, they sent me a chill pad and said sorry.
The question. Have any of you others had this problem. Can you get a turn around of say 4 days if you pay the fed-ex next business day both directions? Is Houston the only repair location. I am located in Seattle. If all else fails can one put a grahics card in on their own? Can you even get a graphics card for the unit? Is the blue screen caused from the graphics card going or is it something else?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Best,

Houston doesn't have a repair location IIRC. It's in Hidalgo.
There's no way you can expect turnaround that fast. HP shipping is one day overnight to you, and reasonably fast back. It's the repair that takes a while. To repair the GPU yourself you'll need to buy a new motherboard. Just not worth the self repair when you can get it done for free.
Do you need this computer that badly? If it's for something upcoming like a trip, wait until you're done and then send it in. -

Just send them in and let them fix it while you're still in warranty.
