Why does the volume bar have to take main focus everytime I use it causing it to take me out of full screen games?
Speaking of the volume bar, turning off the touchpad makes it impossible to use any programs until the stupid picture telling you it's turned off goes away.
I have eyes and ears for a reason! I can hear the volume going up and down, and the light on the touchpad is enough to tell me it's off!!!
Is there anyway to keep the hotkeys but turn off the visual reminders? =.=;;

Wow finally someone actually annoyed by it. Uninstall HP QuickTouch.
-
-
So if I uninstall it, I can't adjust the volume anymore? =X

The volume is unnecessary and highly annoying. Needs to be fixed asap.

Second that - is there any alternate approach to using the volume keys without stealing focus? What about using KeyTweak?
Also, how do we complain to HP about this.... -
Speaking of annoying stuff on the Envy, any way to reverse the function keys / hot keys? I know some may like easy access to the hot keys, but if you play any MMOs, you likely use the function keys to target party members. Well.... I can't do that now. -
You can set function keys in bios.
The envy volume OSD is really the worst comparing to others I have used recently including lenovo, dell, asus. -
I looked everywhere but forgot to check the bios. (doh!) -

But anyway, the most straightforward option is to just do a clean install which gets rid of all the bloatware and leaves you with a faster operating system. The volume adjustment and media keys work out of the box in Windows 7 (they do what they're supposed to with no graphical anything), for the quickplay launch keys you can use my program. -
The popup volume indicator was a huge annoyance for me because it kept dropping me to desktop from full screen games just to show me the volume going down one notch. After removing Quicktouch and still seeing the on-screen display for the volume indicator, I decided to call tech support.
It turns out that the issue isn't as clear cut on the Envy. After a 45 minute call with tech support, they finally figured out which process was causing this and helped me to disable it. If you want to remove the onscreen volume indicator, you need to open msconfig and disable one of the settings from the startup tab. Now here's where its embarrassing... I forget which one it was. :-/ I know, not very helpful. I believe it was called something like "HP Quick Launch" (again, *not* QuickTouch). In any event, once I disabled that, it stopped the onscreen pop up, but still allows all of my quick launch keys to work (calculator, e-mail, etc.), and still allowed the function keys to control the volume and other features. The sole difference that we could see was the lack of the pop up display.
BUT - that didn't completely solve the problem. Caps lock has its own pop up display that says "CAPS LOCK: On" and "Off"... a completely useless popup considering the light on the caps lock key tell you its on. Anyway, this was not tied to the process identified above. Inexplicably, the capslock pop up was tied to "Bluetooth software" in the Startup tab. Once I disabled this, it made the caps lock pop up go away. And before you ask: yes, my bluetooth is still working normally (I have a bluetooth mouse) and I still have the bluetooth icon in my system tray.
So.. there ya go. Hope that helps. -
