Had occasion to go poking around inside the Envy 15 and found something of interest. LIke most laptops, there are two wifi antennae, unlike most, they are set up in an unusual configuration. One is above the top right of the screen behind the plastic bezel about two inches right of the camera. The other, is BELOW the left side of the screen about 2 inches in from the left corner, also behind the plastic bezel. THEREFORE...to maximize your reception (in light of the metal casing, you want to watch your wifi sig strength indication as you rotate your Envy so that the signal is coming in FROM BEHIND YOU, as it will then not have to penetrate metal to get to the antennae. :)

    good luck.
