Hey all,
can any current envy15 owners out there with experience playing diablo 3 provide info on the performance, including settings (med, high, ultra), avg. FPS, etc?
Based on the performance tests for the 7690M card, I'd imagine the envy15 would play between high-ultra with little/no noticeable lag. can anyone confirm this?
I'm in the market for a new laptop. originally i started looking at clevo's, but am now considering something more portable/balanced, assuming it plays diablo 3 without dipping below 30 FPS at high/ultra settings.

can anyone expand on this? I just purchased an envy 17 and i was wondering if it would handle d3 in ultra as well.
Should I return and upgrade it when the ivybridge envy comes out?
I got 33% off so I hope there are deals with the new one.. -
I'm running D3 Beta on my Envy 15. Maxed out settings on everything, including 1080p. Runs flawlessly.
The Envy has no problem running this game on Ultra. -
-
i hear they are adding an ultra setting.. the beta only goes to high. Can the envy potentially handle ultra if there is such a setting on release date?
-
If you go to Blizzard forum here, it will clear up some answers regarding the "ultra" mode. Simply put: It isn't going to happen (at least for now).

Like I said, I have everything maxed out and the Envy 15 handles it with no issue at 1080p. Super smooth: no choppiness or stutter. -
awesome. thanks for the info chocobo.
I actually did a little d3 beta comparison on my desktop a couple weeks ago - i did not see very much drop in quality from "high" everything to "low" everything at the same resolution (max res).
for example, with "high" shadows the shadow resembled the character's shape more, whereas in "low" it was more of a blob... but not noticeable unless you're looking. -
Ok, so I downloaded FRAPS and took screenshots, but apparently the FPS doesn't show up on the screenshot.
In any case, here is the feedback.
On the ATI card, D3 plays at Maxed Out settings (1080p, High Everything, AA, etc.) at 35-42 FPS. 32 is on the low end in the field, 42 is on the high end in the dungeons. These are also at stock ATI clock rates.
I did another run, overclocking the ATI card to 725/900 with the Sapphire Trixx program. Average is now about 40-50 FPS (again, 40 in the field, 50 in the dungeon).
I also ran into large groups and did some spells and explosions, and the FPS didn't really take a hit.
Either way, no worries about this game on the Envy 15 or 17 (current generation). It runs as smooth as butter. -
+1
thx for doing the legwork chocobo - good info -

makes my purchase that much sweeter !! i was so skeptical at first to purchase the envy -
Great thread!! I cant wait to get D3!!! even more excited that it runs great on the envy 15

-
its more powerful:
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 X2 - Notebookcheck.net Tech
there's a chart comparing the relative performance w/7690M -
it depends, cf scaling differently on everything. benchmark usually scale well.

so would I be able to play on high settings 1900x1200 for diablo 3?
