    Hi all,

i've had my Envy 15 for over two months now and although i don't use it frequently enough my wife noticed that on a full charge, unplug then the next day or so the battery is drained.

Basically here is what she does:
she would charge the laptop up
unplug then use it for like 20 mins
    shut down Start>>shutdown
    CLose lid

About or two days later she would try to use it and the thing wont turn on. Plug in the brick and voila! thing comes up.

Is she not shutting down properly? or is there some program on sleep eating the battery?
Or is that the rate this battery drains?

this is still on the FACTORY image, i didnt rebuild it

    thanks for the time!

When you double-post, use the little triangular icon in the post to report it instead of editing the post. It'll get a faster response.

Is she closing the lid before it shuts down, so it sleeps instead of shutting down? Have her wait for it to shut down completely before shutting the lid, see if that changes things.

thx Pita for the tip and the mods for responding quickly.

Yes she did wait for everything to shut down. then close lid, i guess i will try it out myself and see what results i get.

Does anyone know how long a fully charged battery should last?

About two and a half hours under normal use (wifi on, web browsing, etc). It definitely sounds like your battery is somehow being drained. Try the test again, but this time remove the battery from the chassis and see if it gets drained then.

thanks Metalhead! i meant if i have a fully charged battery in the laptop, can i turn it on 5 days later and still have full charge?

i will also take your suggestion and remove it and then see a 2 days later if it still has the same charge.

It should hold its charge if its not holding the charge than there is some problem.
