    Silvr6: A multiplier of 1X is a physical impossibility for a Core i7 CPU or any Core i CPU. Don't trust any software that reports nonsense like that.

    Give ThrottleStop a try. It can accurately report the multiplier of each thread using the method that Intel recommends in their November 2008 Turbo White Paper.

    Have you heard of Paint? It's not too hard to crop a picture.

    This is getting interesting. I'm glad I found this post and forum. I nearly bought the UK model i7-720QM last weekend.

    In the UK we sadly dont get the option to customise the Envy, its a choice of four configs.

    Whats interesting is that the specs show that they are selling these with Lithium-Ion batteries! (not the polymer variants)

    Either the spec is wrong? Or they have managed to fit the non-polymer version into the Envy chassis :confused:

    @bigcat400

    Thanks for the info.

    I will call HP UK tomorrow, but I can see it just being a lack of knowledge on their behalf.

    I'm torn between the following:

    - Sony VAIO F11
    - HP Envy 15 Gen 2

    Its going to come down to how much gaming I intend on doing :D

    Hey everyone, I have the same problem, but with a different laptop and different company...The Studio 15 in my sig does the exact same thing, but with a 6x multiplier. The weird thing is that it doesn't happen all the time, it seems pretty hit or miss. I made another thread for this already, but I just wanted to chime in and say that maybe it has more to do with Intel or the motherboard maker?

    My i7-720QM is bugged like this also. The multipliers stay mostly at x7 instead of x13 under load... and all the time.

    ... PLUGGED IN!
