You're right, however for me its showing 741.99 for base, because when I signed up with HP, I signed up under an army promotion they were having..I wonder if this is a price error,or trying clear inventory for Ivy Bridge?
-
When I log in with my account I also see 741.99 because I have the HP student benefit program. I am not 100% sure if the base price was higher than $849.
-
base price is usually 1,099. HP is indeed having a sale on I believe everything. I have taken a look and the dv series are also at lower starting prices. Note, however, that coupons will now not apply but the prices are usually still lower then it would be with coupons.
As some of you noticed the prices are lowered even more with student discounts and others, the price is decreased on the envy 109 dollars just like it was before this sale.
This is probably an attempt to rid themselves of the sandy bridge CPU's and also just a very good presidents day sale. -
I hope its because their trying to get rid of Sandy bridge...

Order through Ebates or Fatwallet and get cashback of 3%-5% (changes periodically based on promos being run). Can save you $40 or so and coupon codes are stackable on top of your cashback

ooops, just noticed that it's not a store wide sale if the envy 14 beats edition seems to be the same price and so do some others. I looking to buy the envy 15 so that's all that I really paid attention to. I think I'll wait for the ivy bridge and buy at their next sale, hopefully they have a good one in 4th of july whenever, I need a computer for college.
-
the envy 15's current price is way too tempting. I was hoping I could hold back till Ivy Bridge but the price is just killing me.
-
Envy 14 Spectre is really cheap too. Price dropped > $200.

Just chatted with somebody. They said it's a website error and you can't actually buy them at that low price. Should be fixed tomorrow

False advertising? I know Cali, has strict laws regarding this regardless if its "error" it has to be honored..
-
I don't know about California, but in most states, it's not technically false advertising nor illegal nor needs to be honored. However, many stores will do that, citing legal policies, because it leads to a question of discriminatory practices that can quickly turn bad (if they offer to allow some customers to get the mis-quoted price, but not others, things can get ugly and expensive very quickly). Under the UCC (Uniform Commercial Code), however, a price advertisement is not binding. It's not considered an offer, but rather a solicitation for you to offer that they will presumably accept, but not binding (weird, I know).

Im pretty sure their is something like that in michigan also, but I also know that internet sales are very iffy on rules for certain states. Thats why slot of websites don't charge tax, while some do...
