I am wanting to get the ENVY 14 but some of the parts are just crazy insane expensive for the envy 14.

For example the slim batter is 75$ more on the envy 14 than the envy 15.
Also the upgrade screen is 125 more than the envy 15.

When I price everything out I can get a ENVY 15 for damn near 100 bucks cheaper. Same stats as a envy 14 except for a couple of things

    1: I get a slim battery
    2: I get a better graphics card.
    3: I get a 1920x1080 Higher Res Screen

So my question.. is it still worth it to get a ENVY 14?

and if it is please exsplain why.

I really wanted the envy 14 but i cant seem to justify the price difference. seems like HP just wants to us.. 300 for a screen upgrade.. damn them to hell

Don't forget that the Envy 14 has a backlit keyboard, DVD burner, and switchable graphics; the Envy 15 does not.

As for if the Envy 14 is worth it... At this point, I'd say no. HP is price gouging the Radiance display and I don't think it is worth $300. That is just too high imo. If it went back down to $200 then I'd say yes.

I ordered an ENVY 14 with the radiance screen when the upgrade was $200. If it were $300, I would not get it. I would either get an ENVY 15 or one of those acer timelineX machines.

Switchable graphics is a crutch for some and the reason not to get an i5 in an E14.

Are the shipping E15s having quality issues like the E14s? If so then stay away from both unless you're a gambling man and don't mind living with fit and finish flaws.

wow, radiance is 300 now? what's hp thinking? it's almost the same price as the dreamcolor 2 display on the elitebooks. i think envy 15 is easily the better pick right now if you don't care too much for battery and some aesthetics (edge to edge, backlit keyboard).

Yeah, the problems with the Envy 15 are no edge to edge glass, a goofy keyboard layout, no backlighting on the keyboard, and no switchable graphics. So the 15 being cheaper makes sense. At the exact same price, most would probably opt for the 14. If you can live with the mostly aesthetic issues of the 15, then it represents a good deal.

$300 just seems like a total overkill, I wanted the 14 due to the switchable graphics, I need a laptop that can handle Microsoft word for 4 hours straight, but currently due to the big price diff I can just get a slice and still save my self from some money.

Also from video posted by HP the guy says " Customers can opt for back lit keyboards on their 15s if they wish" ill try find it and post it soon.

Wow. $300? I'm more and more liking myself for biting on the 30% BCB back when the display was standard.

I bought this laptop for the display. Plenty of other laptops this size have a good GPU, CPU, and other stuff. No laptop has the display.
