    Hello there,

I was happy I've managed to avoid all the issues that envy users seem to encounter up until yesterday.

I was playing Tropico 3, 5830 overclocked to 550/1000 (stable 100% of the time), laptop was on a cooling pad, and all of a sudden the system shut down as if it had overheated. I've checked the body temp, and it seemed to be perfectly fine (you can cook eggs on the thing when it really overheats).
However, after i tried to fire the pc up again, I got "system failed to start" message of some kind and was offered to perform a system restore, which I accepted. However, envy decided to shutdown what seemed to be halfway through the process in the same overheating-like fashion.

I have not been able to start the system up since.

The only thing that happens is the power led near the ac plug (on the left side) blinks three times (amber colour) every time i push the power button, but nothing happens, and there are no sounds coming from the inside.

    Please help.

Why don't You ask HP Support?

If it doesn't start at all (no fans, etc) I think there's very little You can do. I'm not an expert, but it seems returning the laptop would be Your best bet.

Yea thats what I would do, also make sure you do not mention that you overclocked it or else they will refuse to help you out.

It sounds like a hardware problem, not BIOS.

this is the same result as what happened when my wife spilled liquid on her laptop. the motherboard was replaced by HP.

550/1000 should not fry your GPU or cause any permanent damage. I usually run games at 550/1150 and this is 100% stable so far.

EDIT: sorry, did not notice that you actually were able to restart the laptop partially, which is quite a different situation. when my wife spilled liquid on the laptop there was no way to access the BIOS or boot option screens.

Try removing the battery and ac adapter from the unit.

Then press the power button for 15 seconds.

Reinstall the battery and reconnect the AC adapter to the laptop.

Try to see if the laptop will boot.
