    Envy 15-j display panel from HD to FHD upgrade is fully possible by just change out the panel with a compatible slim panel.

    Could of post this in the main Envy 15-j thread but really would like people to be able to reference this thread.

    Confirmed is it that the standard single part number display panel cable is cross compatible with both HD and FHD panels, which is part number 720536-001 DISPLAY CABLE

    In my case I really wanted the IPS FHD panel out of my AMD based HP dv6-7100 (2012) model in the newer 15-j with Intel Haswell quad core. Was pretty simple really, just swap the screens an it works! :)

    Bezel on both machine can be removed, and the panels taken out with ease. Take into account, both these panels are slim type, which have 4 screws, 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom.

    Anyway, check out the photo for them side by side, with the once 1366 x 768 panel 15-j100 now working with a FHD panel, using the stock display cable

    Envy 15t-q000 model (new 2014)

    The display cable for the new 15-q is the same part number as the 15-j, therefore you will be able to transplant either HD or FHD panel of your choice (on the non-touch model at least), providing it is the flat slim type with the same 40pin connector and x4 front facing mounting screws.

    Envy 15t-q000 display cable = part number 720536-001
