my envy 17 3d 1195ea seems to have died today... ran perfectly until some 4 hours past, then i shut it down and left home, and now tried to turn it on again, but it fails.
as soon as i press the power button the keyboard backlight and power button led turn on for less than a second and turn off again, then turn on again for less than a second after some 3-4 seconds and off again, and this may continue endelssly. ive opened it up, checked the cables for the power button and motherboard, and also watched the fan when turning it on - it starts rotating at the moment it gets power (the same moment the lights flash) but then stops since no constant power supply is present.
i suspect this single flash of the power button led and the keyboard backlight may be the single led flash indicating a CPU failure... well, seems to be bad luck. nevertheless, the envy 17 3d served me quite well for exactly 2 years now (got it in february 2011). of course, the warranty is gone since february 2012 :/
since i suppose replacing the cpu wouldnt be the way to go for such an outdated notebook, i would prefer getting the most recent envy notebook, which would be the envy 17 3200 - NOT 3000!
however they 1. already seem to be discontinued and 2. are very rare and hard to find, at least in europe.
any idea how and where to still get an envy 17 3200, preferably brand new? if directly from HP, i would even accept a refurbished one..
looking at these new dv "envy" notebooks really doesnt make me want any of them... no comparison to the envy line. and unfortunately my beloved elitebooks 85#0w/87#0w dont offer me the hardware i would want right now.
so if i want to stick with HP (which i do), theres no alternative but to get a 17 3200.
please help!
thanks
PS: im going to give hp support a call tomorrow but i do not expect my dead envy to be repaired anymore

they dont make Envy 17 so even if you get offered a new laptop it will not be Envy 17...
HP dropped the ball on their best laptop line RIP Envy 17
Envy 17 3D 1195 probably dead (CPU); any way to get a 17-3200?
