Just got my Envy 17 3D, and when I plug in headphones, sound not only has static background noise, but also gets louder and quiet while on one volume setting, going in and out as if the amplifier is damaged. Can anyone else confirm damaged amplifier / sound card on the new Envy 17 3D? Planning to return...

Sounds like you just got unlucky, I doubt this is going to be a widespread issue that other people have and can confirm.

Seems you unlucky, Envy17 is professional for bass, if you play some high pitch music with max volume(100%), you will hear slight/acceptable distortion from speaker, after disable IDT's EQ, distortion will go away, over all, Envy17's audio performance is very satisfied.
