    Hi,

Just got my Envy 17 today.

Popped in a Crucial M4 to replace the OOB HDD (that back panel was a ***** to pry off.............).

Plugged it in, turned it on, put in the recovery disks, and everything seemed to work fine.

However, it seems that when it reboots, it keeps rebooting into the Windows install (DVD is already no longer in the drive) and a batch script is running in a command window (too fast for me to see). A few command windows open up, it shuts down, and the process cycles over and over again without ever booting into Windows proper.

Any ideas? Any input would be appreciated :)

On a side note: I find that Dell seems to have a much better user experience around re-installs. You get a true, clean Windows reinstall every time from their recovery disk.

    Hi CharlieDigital
I am not technical myself but I am wondering if your recovery disks could have something to do with this. Did you purchase your recovery disks from HP or did you make them when you first purchased your Envy?

Charlie, I experienced something like this but it was after I done something else (can't remember). Use a fresh copy of windows 7 Home premium 64 bit and NOT the recovery partititon since others have said a clean copy without the recover is best for the SSD. I have the same SSD as you. Best SSD and very quick. Did you update the firmware first? Remember, you can only update it on another laptop/desktop as the Envy won't allow you to do it.

    Good luck
