    Hello all,

I own the Envy 17... Haven't really tried to play a lot of video games on it, although I was wondering how you guy do it without external mouse.

The lack of dedicated touchpad buttons makes it impossible to play most shooters and RPG games, where R+L buttons need to be pressed consecutively (aim + shoot). Is there a way to do it without having resort to a USB mouse? Thanks!

Edit: prior to this, I have owned ZD7000, DV8T, HDX 18 and none had this issue. Now that Skyrim is out, I'd like to play it, but my failure to successfully play Deus Ex keeps me wondering.

Gaming without a mouse; are you serious?

I have successfully played fallout 3, mass effect 1 & 2, crysis, mass effect and numerous others with just the touchpad. Makes it possible to play while laying on a couch.

Was this a serious answer or intended as an insult?

I was dead serious. I can't imagine gaming on any laptop using the touchpad.

Not meant to be insulting. If it works for you then that's fine; just not something I would do.

Well, I've been okay with it. But the lack of dedicated mouse buttons makes it impossible with Envy, unfortunately...

Plenty of cheap USB mice will work just fine on most surfaces. I use a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 4000 and it's perfect on my couch - you can occasionally get them for $5 + $5 shipping on Woot (up to three with one flat shipping rate). If you could game on a previous touchpad, more power to you, and if that's a deal-breaker for you, then so be it, but most gamers would call you crazy for even considering gaming on a touchpad.
