Hi guys, Im new here. Im glad to be apart of this awesome site. I just wanted to share this tidbit of info from an hp representative that I got this morning during one of those chat thingys. She didnt tell me much, but judging by the vague tone of her comments, I have a strange feeling that the neew Envy 17's will get a new look. Take a look at the transcript below:

    06/08/2012 08:11:01AM

Bradley: "err ok. another question. will the envy 17 receive a new look like the pavilions did? If it is, then I would rather wait."

    06/08/2012 08:14:01AM

Agent (Shel D.): "Oh, I do hope so that we do have a new look for the HP envy 17, however, we still don't have an update for that. But don't worry, HP has a fantastic product. However, due to the fast paced technology here at HP, the product have to make way for the new ones, if not for a better one, then for the released upgraded models."

    06/08/2012 08:14:32AM

Agent (Shel D.): "I don't want to provide you false information now, however, we will be looking forward for the new look of the HP Envy 17."

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What do you guys think? Has anyone else heard any information about whether or not the current envy 17 models will get a new look? If so, then I would rather wait.

What "new" Envy 17's are you talking about? The 17t-3200 that just got a refresh for Ivy Bridge last week? That one is not going to look any different than the existing line, despite the mysterious comments of that HP rep. It's clearly listed and shown on the HP website ( link).

If you were talking about a future Envy 17 model, then who knows... I would say the Rep is just speculating without any actual concrete info.

I was speaking in terms of the entire envy line. I used the term "new" because they just received the ivy bridge update. Afterall this possibility of the Envy line getting a new look isnt farfetched at all, provided that the pavilions got a new look when ivy bridge was introduced.

I'm thinking that rep may doesn't know what she's/he's talking about
I'll be pissed if there's a new envy lineup any time soon. Just ordered mine.

I don't expect anything new for at least 6 months, they just updated with ivy bridge and in six month itll be a year of releasing the envy 3XXX so they may do it with 4XXX but then agaIn they just updated with ivy bridge it may be longer...

I wouldn't expect a cosmetic update until Haswell. It just doesn't make sense for them to update so soon after a refresh. The last cosmetic update was accelerated due to cooling issues. There's no need for them to rush an update this time around.

So it's safe to assume no "cosmetic" change to the new just released Ivy Bridge Envy for the Holidays correct? Most likely that update/refresh (if there is one which I assume there will be) will be newer IB processors, new SSD's? and graphic cards? can't think of anything else at the moment that might be updated.
