So with the Envy 17 series on the HP site it only offers the 6 cell battery? Is it possible to use the 9 cell battery?
    HP 9-cell Extended-Life Battery (MU09) | HP® Official Store
Also if it is usable how good is the run time watching movies which is my main plan for this laptop on flights (it will be plugged in while gaming, playing Rift MMO mainly)
    All input welcome.

The new ENVY 17 (3000) uses a different battery.
It is semi-internal, and breaks the warranty to replace it yourself (IIRC)

So then I cannot even buy a second battery and swap between the two batteries?

Thats correct. It should be possible to order a replacement when the batter dies in a few years and replace it yourself without much trouble. Im getting about 6 hours of normal use.

I have not done a loooping playback test yet.
If your wanting this laptop and are worried about battery life you may want to look for an airline A/C-D/C adapter or an external battery pack.
I'll run a video on loop when i get the time.

Well the ac/adapter can help but often experience no ac on the plane at all or limited to business class fliers.
