I bought the Envy 17-1011nr last week and formated the OS hard drive to remove Windows 7 Home Premium and install my "saved for a good computer" Windows 7 Professional.

Now I get frequent blue screens, slow shutdowns with self reboots. I think the LAN card driver may be the problem, but cannot uninstall the card without the computer heading toward BSOD again.

I just want to know if the Integrated 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN card is a Realtek. HP is not specific as to the card brand on the Envy product page.

And a wonder which recovery disk (I did make the Home Premium discs first) has the driver the Integrated 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN card so I could maybe see what card is in the laptop.

Hope two questions work! :) May just reinstall Win 7 Pro anyway.

Editing here to add information. I also left the D: drive as it was from the factory installed Windows Home Premium 64-bit. I wonder if there is some system protection remaining on that drive.

And: When in device manager the Network adapters is always expanded when I open device manager. I wonder if that indicates a problem with a network device.

Sorry if this is not in the correct posting area. Again, only here a few times, and there are so many boards, posts, and pages, I did not find a particular "network" area for the Envy 17. And doing the entire OS over again now.
