I have a Envy 17" 17t-3200 CTO that I cannot rotate the screen, the options are not in the Win 7 Screen Resolution Settings, nor are they in the Intel HD 4000 Grapics and Media contol panel, nor are they in the AMD Catalyst Control Center. The options are not there at all. (and of course the alt+ctrl arrow keys dont respond to this either)
HP Envy 17t 3200 Win7 Pro 64bit i7-3610qm 16gb
Radeon HD 7850M and Intel HD 4000 (switchable)
I still have an open claim with HP support, but am not getting anywhere. I recieved my new laptop on 7/6, on 7/8 HP support asked for it to be sent back for a reload; I did not ship until 7/23 as I wanted it for a buisness trip to skype with the family. It was recieved by HP on 7/26 and scheduled for return on 8/2, it was delayed until 8/16. On 8/17 I checked online and called in for an update, I was told someone would get back to me as a part was pending. Finally on 8/23 a month after sending it in, I was bumped to the support supervisors, after a day or two it was decided to ship me a new laptop. I received in on 9/10 and it has the same issue.
I started my reseach again. Modifying registry entries, adding some, no luck so far.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000 Display1(or 2)_RotationCaps to the value of 7 (also tried 1) did not work. I tired changing the value for all Display1/2_RotationCaps with no results
So I started diging through the registry looking for anything referencing ROTATION and found this.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intel\Display\igfxcui\igfxcfg\resources
and DisplayRotation has no software or .dll point for reference.
So I added DISPLAY rotation and now I see display rotation in the Intel Graphics module, but only rotate to normal. No other options.
Any help or ideas would be great!!
I am beyond the 21 day return because HP had it for so long.
I am beyond angry about this simple feature lacking.
Owning the laptop for 65 days it has been in my hands 19 days now. HP had it for 46 days with no results. This is just unacceptable.

I have not "tried or needed" to rotate a screen on my 3200.......but I am sure it is part of the Display problem that those of us who have been trying to utilize the 3 external monitor hook-up they advertise along with the Eyefinity Feature.
The GPU is messed up and you cannot do any of the above....and their Catalyst Control Center doesn't even have those options. Neither the rotate option that you are fighting with. In prior version of this laptop it looks like there is a Desktop and Display tab in the CCC.......but not on our 3200.
What bites me is that they would have you send your laptop in. Why would they do that? All they needed to do was hook up a display to any laptop of that model. One would think that they do have those in the tech area to try and reproduce someone's problem. Your laptop in no different than mine.....or any other 3200. It seems like they are playing games with the consumer.
Sorry to say at this point in time.....you are SOL like the rest of us. I hate to bust your hope bubble. But until they do some serious Bios updates and or driver updates.......it is what it is.....as sad as it is -
Why don't you return it and get something else? Then let us know how that works out.
