    Hello guys
    I have ENVY 6 Sleekbook.
    With A6 and 7500G GPU.
    RAM 4GB

I know that this is not exactly powerhouse spec, but its OK because I use it mostly for Youtube HD and web surfing and Microsoft Office.

However the GPU seems to lag during some Video HD play.

So I decided to check HP for new drivers.
The latest one is from mid 2012. ( a bit old)

I decided to check ATI site for newest generic driver. :D

I installed catalyst 13.4 and so far it works perfectly.

I just cant shake the feeling that the fan speed increased (in idle situations) and temperature a bit.

I am not sure if its suppose to be like that, or I am just being paranoid (since I had bad experience with DV7 and generic ati drivers)

Can someone tell me their experience with installing generic ATI drivers over HP? :)

Is anyone else experiencing the fan speed increase and possible temperature rise?:hi2:

p.s- and yes I KNOW the risks of installing generic drivers over the manufactures.

using only generic ATI drivers on envy 17 3d, and theyre better by all means.

but this is a dedicated GPU, and yours is an on-die integrated apu. so in theory the generic ones also should perform better, however who knows what HP did in its insyde bios blackbox which may require HP's drivers for thi hardware to work as its meant to... id give both options some 1-2 weeks and check what performs better.

in terms of heat, i am pretty sure you shouldnt worry about it on your system, thats some 3 performance classes too low to heat up to the temps one should start to worry about :D

HP one probably more stable, generic one will get the game optimize/bug updates. Probably don't have much to do with heat/fan ~~

Yeah I figured as much. :)

I had HP dv7 with i7 and ATI GPU (with driver from 2011). That was nightmare. No software support what so ever. Installing generic catalyst would push the GPU to full potential but drive the fan speed and temp to crazy levels.

But now since I have AMD CPU and GPU (integrated in to the motherboard) I know that downloading the latest catalyst not only helps with my GPU performance but also CPU management. (since its AMD Vision Center)

And god knows HP is the company with the biggest reputation for stone-age drivers. (even though I prefer stability over performance) cmon the driver is from yearly 2012 for Sleekbook 6. xD

What Im concerned about is that new AMD Vision Center changed the regime of fan speed. I have a feeling that it works more often now.

I could be just paranoid due to the installing of generic driver. :D

P.s- I hope its nothing because returning back the old HP drivers is going to be very hard and painful process. :D
