I have a second hand Envy DV6. I want to remove the MSATA card that is in it. I took off the panel in the bank and removed the HDD. It still booted so that tipped me off to an MSATA card somewhere. I have access to the HDD, RAM, and Wireless card from what I can see, but I couldn't find a take down guide.

Do I just remove all the screws on the bottom and the whole back panel will lift off? If it's not easy to remove it, I want to completely wipe it so that no boot info is on it as I'd rather just run a larger SSD. I have no want for the MSATA really.

My back panel looks like this csm_Envy_dv6_Unterseite_01_2cc1f7f71c.jpg

I'm not familiar with that particular Envy layout, but I'd start by removing the one screw on the center panel. The last few generations of Envy that I've seen have had easy-to-access RAM, HDD, and mSATA (when they've had mSATA) - typically a matter of one or two screws and then removing one access panel.

I opened up the center panel, but I don't see an MSATA port or card there. I see the wireless card, RAM, and HDD

Are you sure that your model has an mSATA port?

When you bought it, was there an option for the mSSD acceleration cache? That's the giveaway - if there is no option for one, the laptop (probably) doesn't support it.

It is possible that it has one and it's just buried somewhere else, but my money is on your model not having one.
