Ok so I have the option for a new envy sb 17 or a new envy 14 or just wait until April 28 when apparently HP is going to have radiances available again. I mean I like the size of the 14 so I don't know if the 17 is going to be tooo big for me along with maybe a worse battery life. But on the other hand it has all the new features such as SB, usb 3.0, 1080p... So i'm stuck now its either new/old model 14 or new/new model 17 or even wait a bit and maybe see if i can get a new/new model 14. Any ideas on what to do?

I have an old Sony 17" and would like to go a little smaller this time so personally I would either wait for the Envy 14 refresh or go with the DV6. A little disappointed in a few missing features from the DV6 (probably so people still have a reason to go for the Envy).

I'm going to wait a few months for hopefully the new Envy 14. It seems the current Envy 17 SB is the old model with the SB board stuck in. (Similar to what they did originally with the DVs)

The case manager I talked to said there was a backorder date of april 28 and that they might have found someone else to manufacture the display. Take it with a grain of salt.

So 17" would be toooo big to like take to starbucks and class?

It's definately doable but if you will be traveling with it a lot you might want to go a bit smaller. Go down to BestBuy/Microcenter and pick up a few of the 17" models to see what you think. Some are probably lighter than others, I don't have the Envy 17 so take what I say with a grain of salt, everyone has their own preferences.

Of course the 14 will be easier to tote around but the 17 is very nice size for it's class. It really depends on you and how you feel about it.

I really think the radiance displays will be back (I've stated a few times before why i think that) but i doubt that rep has any idea what he is talking about. Also i would think summer (june-ish) is more of the time frame for a envy 14 refresh.

I think I'm just gonna go with a new 14. If I can get it with the 256 ssd and an i580 that would be acceptable for the loss of the radiance. June would be tooo far out for me to wait.

I went to best buy and saw a 17in HP and it's way to big for me. Especially if I need to take it to class. It feels awkward too because it's such a large screen and its very close to your face.

So I went with a new 14 with i580 6gb and 256gb SSD instead of the radiance. I think I made a good choice considering I had the i7 which totally killed the battery life. If I ever decide that I need a better screen I'll just buy a large 1080p tv and hook it up via hdmi.
