Hello everyone. While browsing the HP store again to tell those on another forum about the Envy, I noticed a selection of additional official AC Adapters. The Envy14's default seems to be a standard 90W Adapter, like many other HP models. I was a little underwhelmed initially, hoping that HP would have come up with a "fancy" connector for their premium line, but its probably a blessing in disguise that it is easy to find compatible 1st and 3rd party models. While I'm steering clear of knockoffs with questionable engineering, I'm interested in 2 other HP models that would seemingly work.

The first is the 90W Smart AC/Auto/Air - HP 90W Smart AC/Auto/Air Combo Adapter | HP® Official Store

This seems to be a slightly improved version of the standard 90W adapter, with built in surge protection and "mobile" plugs for charging from a car, boat, old-style airplane charger or anywhere else DC power exists. Now this model is NOT listed as an accessory for the Envy14, but it IS one of the accessories sold when building an Envy17 - despite the fact neither model is on the compatibility list at present. Can anyone confirm this is safe for the Envy14, as well?

A much more interesting option however is the HP Slim Power Adapter - HP Slim Power Adapter | HP® Official Store

This doesn't list the wattage, but it is listed at the Envy17's customization queue alongside the standard 90W and Smart/Auto/Air 90W, so I suppose this is a 90W adapter as well? This model is smaller and offers an additional USB port charger besides the laptop itself - seems like this should have been what the Envy series should have come with by default. Does anyone know if this model is compatible with the Envy14? This seems like the most ideal of all the HP-made options for a secondary adapter to carry around with them. I'd hate to spend the money and have this be insufficient in some way, or even dangerous. At the moment it simply looks like an issue of listings having been updated

    Thanks!

If that slim adapter is 90W, I think I'd buy. But IDK the standard power adapter does have a nice flexibility b/c the cable can go in more places as far as I see.

EDIT: One of the reviews says its a 65W adapter and really short. So sadly no go.

The power adapter on the Envy 14 drives me crazy. I frequently use a mouse with mine and it is constantly in the way and becomes extremely annoying. If the connector was just right-angled or even if it didn't stick 2.5" straight out would be nice... It really should be located on the left side like a macbook.

I saw another post someone made about the LC90 adapter but I would much prefer something that does not require any modification. Are there any alternate compatible adapters that would resolve this for me? HP brand or otherwise.

Have a look at the Targus Laptop Charger. There has been some discussion on it in the HP Envy 14 Backpack thread.

Its apparently as slim as the HP slim charger but has the advantage of being able to be used by a variety of laptops.
Have actually ordered mine through a friend and expect to get it to try in about 3 weeks.

I have the Targus premium AC/DC combo adapter APM69US. IMO it's basically garbage. The tips are a bit loose and will keep dropping power frequently with any movement. If you are only using it on a desk, you'll probably be fine. Don't plan on being able to use it while the laptop is on your lap though.
