I get an error saying that windows cannot start, the following file cannot be located or corrupted:
    \windows\system32\drivers\iastorv.sys

what i am trying to do is do a fresh install of vista home preium 64 bit onto a originally 32 bit OS.

i am using a hp pavilion dv2404ca with athlon 64 x2, 160 hard drive, broadcom, geforce go 6150, currently do not have sp1 installed and also the computer has been freshly rebooted using hp recovery discs.

If anyone could help me get around this problem, it would be greatly appreciated,
    Thank You.

Have you checked the DVD surface? What sort of disc is it? retail, anytime upgrade, downloaded or OEM copy. It might have been scratched or defective perhaps. The dv2404 shouldn't have any problems with reagrds to drivers when clean installing Vista.
