    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can help me out by telling me which wireless and ethernet cards / chipsets are used on HP laptops? Specifically, I'm looking at the dv9000z and the dv6000z. Thanks :)

The wireless is usually the 54mbps Intel 3495abg...I forget the ethernet atm. I'll let you know later when I get home if no one else replies.

The 3945 is only used in Intel(only for the Centrino brand) based systems. The AMD based & non centrino branded systems use Broadcom BCM 43xx(4311 for the b/g) PCI-e wireless chips. I have to double check on the ehternet but it is most likely chipset based considering the 430 is a MCP.

If they use the same chipsets as on the AMD-based HP compaq 6325 version, then I read it's the following:

    1) Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5788 Gigabit Ethernet (rev 03)
    2) Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4310 UART (rev 01) - this is wireless

miner, could you confirm this? Also, do you have the dv6000z or the dv9000z? Also, is the Ethernet gigabit by default (10/100/1000) or only gigabit if you opt for the 802.11a/b/g WLAN or the 802.11a/b/g WLAN & Bluetooth? Thanks :)

They do not use Broadcom, but rather Nvidia's built in Gigabit ethernet. It should be stardard and shouldnt be dependant on the wireless model. They do use Broadcom chipsets for the wireless radio. The exact model might differ from whether you opt for b/g or a/b/g, but it will most definately be 43xx series.

    I have the V3000z - basically the 14"version of the 600 & 9000. They share the same chipsets & graphics(geforce 6150).

Hmmm this is interesting. so that means if they use a Broadcom ethernet in the notebook then itd be good to get a broadcom router as well? I know its not necessary but wouldnt it make it more compatible if the ethernet and wireless router would be of the same brand?
