What is wrong with my envy?

Every single time I reboot it says it 01-01-2009.

Man I'm REALLY regretting not buying a dell.

You likely got one with a bad RTC/CMOS battery. Or it's not connected. That's different than the battery that powers the unit.

To see what I'm talking about, look on page 4-19 of the service manual. It's in PDF format.

If you're handy enough, you may want to take a peak at it and see if you can fix it yourself. It may be loose, not connected properly or worse, missing.

Or you may just need to charge the computer overnight to charge up this battery.

    No I'm done with HP.

Apparently buying an envy entitles you to "repair depot" 2-3 week turnaround time.

I'm not keeping a $1400 laptop where at any point once it dies to being a nuclear reactor i'll be without it for 2-3 weeks.

    Sad effort HP.

    Thanks for help though,

    Tim
