    Hey guys,
I can't seem to start up my envy 14. When I press the power button, I hear the click from the CD drive (normal) and I can even hear the HDD spinning. However, that is it. The fans are not running and the screen remains black. It will stay like that unless I unplug it and then the HDD will stop spinning after about 10 seconds. The amber charging light is on and so is the HP logo light, but other than that there are no other lights. No beeps no nothing. I even took out the RAM to see if the Motherboard would beep, but nothing. I figure it could be the motherboard but also could be a dozen other things. I've never had such a hardware failure before and am rather lost.

Anyone know how to troubleshoot these kind of things? I'd rather not drop a couple hundred dollars on a new motherboard and it turns out the processor was the problem or something like that. Any help would great!

I have an Envy 14t-1000 CT with Radiance screen and the motherboard crapped out on me two months ago. Had to send it in for new motherboard. That is what you need too. Fortunately, although I was just out of warranty, I paid for it with my Amex card off ebay through paypal and I convinced Amex that i bought it new and they should still cover the extra year warranty they add. So they refunded me the 234 dollar repair charge. The computer is worth more than 230 dollars, so if you still like it then it is worth the repair. Only took a few days turnaround from HP.
