I have a unique issue with my Envy 14. When it is working fine I get great performance in games, however sometimes I will boot up a game and notice the fps seems low.
I used Dawn of War 2 benchmark as a way to tell and I have noticed two distinct levels of performance. when everything is working fine it has an avg of 30 fps with a high of 50, but it sometimes it goes to avg 15 and 30 high.

It has nothing to do with the switchable graphics, or any other hardware that I can notice. Does anyone have any clue?

Well, if you're sure you aren't running on Intel graphics....

    How are your temperatures?

70Cish with intense use. I have checked multiple times about the Intel graphics, and even if it was running I don't think it would get even the lower performance numbers.

happens to me sometimes also. Also Sometimes the fps is perfect at 100 fps and I get random lag spikes that get down to 20 fps for ~ 5 seconds before it goes back up...

    well.

make sure powerplay isn't screwing with you.

there's a bug with the envy 14 where when you go unplugged and/or swap to the intel and then plug back into the wall and go back to the ATI you'll be stuck at slower clocks.

you fix that by either rebooting or turning powerplay off, applying, then turning it back on. Standard envy 14 ati clocks are 450mhz/800mhz.

it gets locked at 300mhz/300mhz which kills fps
