I was hoping the news was that someone succesfully swapped the 720p screen from current DV6s with higher res screen. Would save us a lot of money.

Well now that they offer 1080p on the DV6tqe, you'll probably be able to order the cable that will allow other 1080p screens to be compatible as well.

This same thing is the case for the XPS 15, the cable for 720p results in a glitched image when just swapping in a 1080p screen.

If someone could swap in the XPS 15's B+RGLED 1080p screen (AUO B156HW01 V7, or V4 for antiglare), this would be the ultimate machine.

This is very good news; I've just submitted a news article about it. These notebooks weren't worth considering until now (sad to say since the chassis is quite nice). Having a higher resolution screen makes all the difference.

You guys reckon the LCD cable from the 1080p DV6 will be compatible with the motherboard in the 720p DV6s? As long as they have similar motherboards it should work right? Also, how can we find out if the LCD cable that's already in our laptop can support higher resolution screens (single channel LVDS vs dual channel LVDS)? Can't find any info on the LCD cable in the DV6 6xxx...

I like the fact that the screen is matted. Do you guys think that the current Dv6's can be modded for this?
Also, HP changed their manuals, the current ones don't have the disassembly instructions anymore. Does anyone know where to find the old ones?

    Edit:
I found the original copy with the disassembly instructions. I'll host it on mediafire.
