Yeah, figured with the new versions being announced people would want to know the release dates.

Personally, I will most likely be ordering the tx2500 probably sometime next week, the delay over Montevina wasnt really ideal. I sold off my old notebooks expecting it to be available by June and cant wait until July/August/September timeframe for the dv4 series to be released.

yeah, any info on the new quickdock?

Im interested since the new models are still going to have the expansion port 3. Hopefully they add HDMI-out into it and have a better design

Unfortunately for some (including me) there are different information available at
    http://h41131.www4.hp.com/uk/en/stories/fs_emea_connecting_06_08.html
The difference applies to bussiness and standard series notebooks:

    Expected availability of HP Products

Unless otherwise noted, U.S. availability is shown. Asterisk indicates non-US availability. Availability will vary by country.

    Business series notebooks
HP Compaq 6730b Business Notebook: July 2008
HP Compaq 6735b Business Notebook: July 2008
HP Compaq 6530b Business Notebook: July 2008

    Standard series notebooks
HP Compaq 6830s Business Notebook: July 2008
HP Compaq 6730s Business Notebook: July 2008
HP Compaq 6735s Business Notebook: July 2008

As You can see, the 6530s, 6535s, 6535b will propably not be available in the US and as of now it seems, that nowhere in the Europe either.
This totally pisses me off. After one year of choosing a laptop, the perfect-for-me 6535b appears. A while later I find out that the only quality 14"/13" with AMD Puma is only going to Asia or Pacific or somewhere

Does anyone know if these new business models will be replacing the 8510p/w? If you ask me, they cannot since none of these new business notebooks have the three-button touchpad. But then again, if they aren't replaced now with this new refresh, I don't see when...

No. The replacement for those are not due yet (they will eventually be refreshed). High end models have a longer lifecycle as they need to maintain consistency across product generation as required by enterprise deployments.

I presume that is the availability dates for the UK even though they mention US availability in the beginning. I dont think the Intel based versions are going to make it in June considering Intel has not announced Montevina yet. According to this news report Intel Montevina is expected to be announced on July 14, so if the article is accurate laptops should follow soon after.

The AMD based versions however should be available pretty soon. The tx2500 is already on sale in the US. I would guess by end June some of the updated Puma platform based dv5z/dv7z should be on sale. The business versions usually follow the release of the consumer versions, so a July date seem to be accurate(for AMD versions).

Can you guaranteeably confirm whether the Performance line will be upgraded this coming October, or at least some time this year? If it is true, then I shall wait until then; otherwise, I might as well buy now.

    ("Whether or not" is redundant.)

I really wish they would add the option of an HDMI-in port. I would love the ability to play my PS3 or any HDMI device on the LCD of my laptop, it would truly be a great addition.

Its probably more than a month and half away. Intel is expected to release Centrino 2mid July, so any new laptop based on that are only going to be sold after Intel officially releases the platform. Plus, the model number 1050 seems to indicate that it might be the higher end model for the initial release. Mid to end July/early August should be a good guess for that laptops release. ofcourse, this all depends on when Intel is going to announce the new chipsets.

Definitely upwards of $1500(US). The bluray drive itself would bump the price by $300 or so.

If they want to be competitive with Acer, they will price it at $1200. The 6920G (16") gemstone with Blu-Ray model was slightly over $1000 when my dad purchased it a few weeks ago. Although the CPU was only T5550, it had 3GB RAM, WD 320GB HD, 9500M GS 512MB, great screen, solid keyboard, fingerprint reader, webcam, and the works.

I'm going to be getting an HP Compaq for school this year. Do you think it's worth it to wait until the new laptops or announced or should I just go ahead and order one? I don't need the laptop right away but I will need it before I head to college in mid to late August.

    There are 2 options:

    • Wait until the back-to-school sales begin in July or early August. There should be a few deals springing up then.
    • If you are looking for a tablet, the HP TX2500Z has a coupon reducing the price by $500. Use the code: NB4796 (see this NBR page for details)

I'm also in the same boat as Startacus. I'm debating on whether to wait for the dv5t line (really want the 1680x1050 resolution). However, the 6700t offers exactly what I need and with the $500 coupon offered currently, it may be worth to purchase a notebook now and forget about the dv5 series.

    Tough choices...

I would order by the end of the month. Shipping delays can take up to a month (hopefully shipping within 2-3 weeks) but you never know. If you need it absolutely by a certain date, it would be good to plan ahead. If the new line comes out before then, go for it, but once you've reached the one-month-before-you-absolutely-need-it date, then you have to make the decision to buy then or take a chance or not get it in time.

I just went to the link, and I can not configure with a built in tv tuner. I'm not thinking about buying this laptop (I'm waiting for the dv7t), but why would they mention the TV tuner in the product overview and not have it as an "optional" choice?

Will any of the HP dv5z's at Best Buy have the Radeon 3450 option? They usually don't but there's a first time for everything...

Hmm, the dv4z/5z/7z notebooks aren't listed in the notebook database but the dv4t/5t/7t notebooks are?

I used to work for Best Buy and from my experience, what we got and when we got it when it cam e to replacement models for Laptops varied depending on current stocks of the previous models that still needed to be sold. That being said, most of the time we start with the most main stream and then, a week or so later, we would receive the more higher end stuff. The highest grade stuff would be carried either online only or only at certain stores with high volume sales or that have a market for that particular model. I say if you give it another week or so, you should see the remaining model variants in the dv5t series show up with the dv7t following right on its heals.

The thing to remember is that the manufactorers, such as HP, are trying to hit the back-to-school gap which really only exists between late July through August. If you can't the models available by the end of August, you will more than likely find yourself playing catch-up until the Holiday season in November and December. I personally can't wait for a review and extra information on a top of the line model HP Business Compaq 6535s. I don't need anything special, just a nice mid-range laptop for school and for my side business I run to pay for school. Hopefully there won't be any major thermal or battery issues with the new AMD platform.

Apparently HP used the July 4 week sale with 50% off many items to clear their stock. The xb2000 and the xb3000 has been removed from the hp site entirely. Anyone got any ideas how the xb4 looks like? I wanted the xb3000 dock but its summer, I'm at home, and I didn't feel like transporting the dock back to campus at fall. Sadly the retail price is going to be set at $249.

HP is already selling this AMD version (dv5z) on their CTO web site. I'm hoping for news on new Intel Centrino 2 versions.

Called HP in Switzerland regarding the Compaq 6735b availability. They told me late September, early October!
Probably a month or two before in the US...

This is awesome!!! cant wait for the dv4t and the dv5t... m sure HP will keep the prices down too (Unlike the XPS and the Sony SR series laptops)

Some say that the dv4t's gna be launched in September. I reckon if its launched in Europe, it should be in the US sooner.... Any dates available?

    No, not yet.

Usually Hp releases them to shops the same week they place it in the website.

I'll keep you guys posted regarding price and availability in Portugal.
